I had my surgery July 18th. Just curious as to how others are doing who had their surgery around the same time.

I had my surgery July 23, 2002. I have lost 148 lbs as of today June 15, 2003. I am losing a lot slower now and still have to watch what I eat. I dont eat sweets and as of a couple of months ago am able to drink water again. It made me sick before. I walk now almost every day. I have a lot of saggy skin that really bothers me but I dont know what to do about it. How are you doing? Any tips on how I can speed up this weight loss? I wont be "done" until I see 174 lbs. I want to have lost 200 lbs total.

I will have my one year anniversary on July 9th. I am feeling good, I have lost 110 lbs. from my highest weight of 263, and and 100 lbs. since surgery. My diabetes, high blood pressure, and pain from arthritic hips is GONE (okay, on rainy days I have little twinges in the hips, but that's all!). The only ill effect I have had is low iron, and I will be seeing a hematologist in the next week or so to see if I should start getting periodic iron injections. I thank God I found out about this surgery, and that things have gone so smoothly. Good luck to you all.

Hi, I had my surgery on 7/25/02 and so far I'm down 122 lbs. I'm at goal ( I thin-- caue I keep cahnging it) wearing a size 6 and feel pretty good. I'm eating lots more than I used to so I have to make sure I make "good" food choices. I gave up sugar and sodas completely--- but everything else is up for grabs--- I make sure to get in my protein (2-3 shakes a day--30 gms each) and all my supplements and I really believe it has helpe me to get here as quickly as I have. I'm jut now rejoining the gym-- after a 6 month break due to a bad foot. I have lots of firming up to do-- and I'm waiting for a PS consultation with Dr O'toole for a TT. After TT I'll be set and rearing to go.!!!! Elena

I had mine on July 17, 2002. I've lost about 120 pounds so far. I have about 50 to go. I started at 325, so I'm pretty happy. It's nice to see others from the same time! Kathy

I had my surgery July 31st, 2002 and I have lost 140lbs so far. I really can't believe what a life change this has been, it is the best thing that I ever did for myself and my family. I still feel like I have a way to go, and I will definately need a tummy tuck, the skin hanging everywhere is pretty gross. I have had no regrets at all!

Hi All, I had my surgery 7/29/02. I am down 90 lbs. Not as fast as some, but I feel great. I am healthy. No complications at all, except for a small hernia. That will be repaired in Nov, and I will get a TT at the same time. I am 175 and feeling wonderful!

Hi I had my open rny on July 15/02 and I am doing fabulous!! I am down 143lbs. and loving every minute of it. I am waiting for a consultation with my plastic surgeon in Aug. to take care of the saggy skin. It has been the best thing I have ever done in my whole life and it has made my life worth living that is for sure. Congratulations to everyone else in this group of ours who had surgery at the same time. We all deserve a huge hug and pat on the back for having the courage for having the surgery in the first place and also being successful in our attempts at regaining our lives back. Here's to many healthy happy years ahead for everyone. Hugs and Kisses from Canada.
