My VSG has been scheduled for June 7....my doc doesn't require a long pre-op diet, thank God...just 2 days of clear liquids. I've been trying to cut back anyway.
Glad to know we can all support one another!

Hey, I'm on June 3rd as well. I don't know what time - they'll tell me the day before surgery. I'm dieting and have lost 15 pounds - down to 300 form 315. Feels good to lose a bit before surgery. I'm having a hard time getting in the 64oz of liquid each day but am trying.
I'll e thinking of you on June 3rd. write in when you get a chnace afterward. My name is Maggie

Topic: Surgery date June 7th, Day 2 of Pre-Op Diet
Hi Everyone,
Today is day (2) of my pre-op diet. I have only liquids ( 1000 calories a day) and 60 to 70 grams of protein, for the next two weeks. My surgery date is June 7th.
How do I feel....Commited to this process, but tired, horrible headaches ( probably detoxing from sugars, carbs, etc), and my stomach is upset. I went to the gym today, despite how I felt, and walked 3 miles, and worked out with weights. Trying to take it easy on myself...
Is anyone else on the pre-op diet yet? If so, when you experience burning in your stomach, what do you do? What has been your experience so far? I find I cannot tolerate any of the fruit juice due to the acid... Jello, Trader Joes low fat soup, Protein Drinks and sugar free popsicles are my main stay....
Wishing everyone much love. Looking forward to this journey with all of you.

Well, I finished the 1st of the 4 weeks yesterday. My trackers says I averaged 891 calories a day. I lost 3 pounds and I have absolutely NO energy whatsoever.

My pre op liquid diet starts Tuesday, May 31. It is clear liquids and protein drinks of 70 grams a day. I do get to have sf Popsicles and sf jello. I am shopping for it this weekend. I figure that 2 weeks will be the hardest for me, but I can do it. I am excited.

My surgery date is June 8th as well. I just started my liquid fast this morning with a 'delicious' milk chocolate carnation instant breakfast drink. It would be great to find someone to talk to daily as I progress thru this fast.

Thankfully, I dont have a long pre op diet. Just the 2 days before all clear liquids and sugar free jello. Cant wait to get this show on the road. Only 5 weeks left!

Hi all!!
I responded to this because you and I are most similar. My surgery date is June 21 and I dont have to do a pre--op diet, just clear liquids for 24 hrs before surgery. I'm having the vertical sleeve.
I'm soooooo excited. Insurance approval took less than a week. I've already had my upper GI scan. Meet with my surgeon one last time this weds then meet with my PCP on June 7. From there, I'm just counting down the days.
Glad to find people in my situation!!

I guess I can see the benefits of Optifast or other meal replacements--it completely takes out the guesswork of what and how much.
Has anyone started getting ketone breath? I hate it, but I know it is a sign that pre diet is working ;)
