Dogs are very intuitive tho. Taking them may not be a bad idea especially since one may not eat for 2 weeks while you are gone. If they are crate trained take a crate incase they get too rowdy. or something you can leash them away from you if needed. If I were going to be away from home I would want my laptop. (I am addicted) but if all else failed I would have my andriod to get online with. IDK if a nook has that capabilities. I am a tech support rep for a ISP I should know that huh? Anyway best of luck to you. I hope all goes week and you and your doggies are fine.

Good luck Shari. you can do it. Remember its what you have been working for. Keep your eyes on the goal, Thats what I am trying to do. I think I'll cry before surgery. But I will also know that I am ready for the lifestyle change and IDK how much I will lose or what I will look like but I will know that I tried, I suceeded and I am healthier! if you need anything email one of us or post on here. even if its just a pep talk. I have been posting my diet on my blog and sharing it on facebook because I do not want to fail infront of my 300+ friends. Here if ya need me. Melissa

I understand how you feel Bonnie. I sometimes feel alone too and I know that my husband and kids and daughter in law do not understand how hard it is. We did not ask to be this way and we are trying our best to do something about it. We will be here ya need us. just ask if ya need someone to talk to. Do you know if theres a messenger for the website. Would be great to communicate with others and not have to post.

Me too dancandie, I try to get her to do so now but she really does not understand that she is headed the same way I was at her age. Then when she goes to her dads they are all overweight and they have desert after every meal. I can't imagine that. I am huge and I didn't even have sweets but a couple times a week. All we can do I guess is try to set an example for them and weed out what is bad for them in the house. Kaitlyn is having some of the protien shakes with me and she loves fruit and salad but its that she wats at school comes home her snack is a meal for anyone else then a few hours later she eats dinner with us and then wants sweets. I wonder if her physician will prescribe her something to help with the hunger? I dont know what else to do.
Topic: Here We Go! OR 6/6, liquid diet starts TOMORROW
Tomorrow, Memorial Day, I begin my pre-op full liquid diet in preparation for my scheduled sleeve gastrectomy on June 6, 2011!
I'm excited, nervous, hopeful, and so many other emotions. This should be an interesting week.
Glad to have found this web site with so many others in the same boat!

I agree....I am so worried that I will be saggy and bald. I know that the alternative of being big and unhealthy is not good, but I don't want to be skinny surrounded by all this lose skin. Also, I understand about your daughter. i worry about my son. He is not overweight yet, but he loves carbs and doesn't eat veggies or fruit like he should. I hope when my eating habits change, so will his.

Winnie - My gaul bladder was taken out yrs ago, thank goodness. So that is one less obstacle I have to stress over. They never mentioned doing an ultrasound at pre-op, but I will fully welcome it. They just said I have to first meet with the anesthesiologist, then the heart thing, then I will come to the surgeons office to talk to him. Oh and somewhere in there do bloods. So hopefully she just forgot to mention the ultrasound. Yes, the complex carbs are my little friends or at least they have been the wrong kinds of friends for years. ha ha You don't realize how much is in your diet until you are looking out for them! ha ha But I am being stricter on myself pre-op and not doing any at all as much as possible.

Topic: RE: Surgery Date June 7th, Day 5 of liquid Post Op Diet
Hi,
My surgery is the day after yours. Today is my 5th day on the liquid fast. I am supposed to get my 60g's of protein. I don't have a calorie limit, but I'm having trouble even meeting 1000. I tend to fall short on protein as well. I'm having issues with textures and milk based proteins. If what I 'drink' is going to make me sick to my stomach I don't think its a good idea.
I admire your thoughts and I too take a few minutes each day to go thru before and after pictures here and on my surgeons website. It keeps me focused I think. I've lost about 9 lbs in the 5 days I've been fasting. But due to a hernia that will be repaired during surgery I am restricted from exercise and strenuous activity. (Which sucks!) I walk around my house and yard alot but find I tire easily. Are you experiencing fatigue as well?
I welcome any and all suggestions. I am trying desperately to stay positive but another 9 days seems endless at times.
Please add me as a friend if you like. I look forward to speaking with you more.
:) Lori
