Good luck with you pre op diet...i am in the same place.  I know that my physician said that all oral birth control needed to stop a month before surgery and could not be started until a month after the procedure due to possibly blood clotting, so it looks like birth control is the old way with a condom and spermicide.  :) I wish you well with everything.  Wish me luck too...I am not very discipline.

Diana, Congrats and best wishes. I had preop today and surgery is Monday morning. This is what I found out about protein and Vitamins. My dr does not have us start vitamins until after our 1st post op check up. usually 1-4 weeks out. so we have to buy them but we need calcium 1,000-1,500 mg daily(calcium citrate is the easiest to digest) he suggests all be chewable or liquid, a multivitamin that contains at least 5-10 mg of Thiamin(B1). 60 mg of iron daily and 500mg of b-12 sublingual (under the tongue) once a week or 1000 mg injected monthly. Protein- 60-80 grams daily. They suggest getting some that disolves eaily in water and sip it through out the day in the beginning. as far as birth control. Thats a question for your physician. I had a hystorectomy so I do not have to worry about birth control. Good Luck!

I went ahead and went to Urgent Care last night.  Tested neg. for strep.  Doc put me on Omnicef (had never heard of that antibiotic before) for sinus drainage and the fact that it could be early stages of strep and not showing on test.  Called surgeon's office today and as long as I am not running a fever, I should be fine.  SO GLAD TO HEAR THAT!!
