I had the same experience and even after all these months feel like I need prep time. My surgery is the 29th, but I thought I would be a July banster!

I had very little pain even on the first day.  They put pain medication in your IV and I also had a topical pain med that was in this ball for 1 or two days.  I took very few pain meds after that as well.

I never has a tube down my nose unless they put it in during surgery and took it off before I woke up in recovery.  I had a drainage tube for a week but it was no big deal.

I have been doing good until today. I woke up with like vertigo. I am getting 40 to 50 oz of water daily and about 40 to 50 gms of protein. Today my stomach has felt full and a little flip floppy. Also I am having a hard time finding protein drinks that are tolerable. I get them down but feel like crap afterwards. Just wondering how everyone else is doing. I still have to be on liquids for a week and three days. Then soft for four weeks.

Topic: RE: Hi June Surgery Dates!!Are you all on Liquid Pre Op Diets??
I was on Optifast for 6 weeks.  It did not give me diarrhea.  There were at least two people in my nutrition class that could not do Optifast.  The nut gave them a different diet.  I"m not sure what it was.  Call you nutritionist and let her know that it is making you sick.  See if she can give you another diet to follow.

Topic: Last Meal
Well, My surgery is Monday morning YAY so today my husband wanted chinese food and we were going to order him some take out and I was going to have a salad. at the store he decided since this will be my last meal for a while other than liquids that we should make it special so he is grilling us steak and salmon, zuchinni and squash for me and potatoes for him. So sweet of him to think of me. I kinda feel like an era is ending. Food has always been my stress releiver. Guess thats why I am ###lbs. I refuse to fail. I am going to eat right exercise and become a healther new prettier skinnier me! We also went to flea market this morning and got some cantaloupe. I know I can't have them but I made him a cantaloupe milkshake and he loved it.  I am taking one of the cantaloupe to my grandson. He will love it. We also bought some vine ripe fresh from the field tomatoes. YUM I am going to slice one with my dinner. Nervous about the full liquid diet tomorrow coz I know I will be hungry but come Monday I am putting it all behind me. I am not crazy about the g-tube or having a tube down my nose till tuesday morning. that has me worried but other than that I am ready to go! Till next time (((HUGS)))

I am having surgery on Monday and I will tell you I am about the biggest baby ever when it comes to pain. When I had my hystorectomy I SWORE I would never be cut on again and yet here I am doing an OPTIONAL operation. For all the pain my weight causes and the heartbreak of life passing me by while my family enjoys it and I sit on the side lines. I'll say the pain will be there but nominal and well worth the outcome! God bless and good luck!

I have not had surgery yet, but from what I have read, it depends a lot on your pain tolerance level.  Some say they feel they have been hit by a semi and others say it is minor muscle pain.  It also depends hugely on whether you get it done laproscopically or wide open.  Either way, the worst pain does not seem to last long and walk, walk, walk, sip, sip, sip are the main suggestions given repeatedly.
