Topic: RE: How can you tell if you are full????
My doctor's office and NUT advised me to stop once I am no longer hungry not necessarily full. If you are burping or in discomfort, you have eaten too much. You want to stop before the actual "Full" feeling comes around. There is a threat that the pouch will stretch if you stuff yourself too much often.
I could barely get 8 ounces of liquids the first week, but it gradually increased over time.
Trust and be good to your new stomach.

I feel a tightness in my chest. I might burp or cough. It might be uncomfortable to breathe deep. I hate the feeling so I try not to get there. right now, I'm learning my threshhold is 3 tablespoons per half hour.

I know it's a strange question, but I feel full all the time especially with the gas. I'm on full liquids for the next two weeks and I just don't know. I was sitting outside sipping water when some came back up...guess I drank too much. But other then that I don't know.
I had stained cream of mushroom soup yesterday 2oz and I didn't know if I was full I didn't feel full, but didn't feel hungry, but felt gassy afterwards and needed to walk and get it out of me.
I was able to have a bm today, I think the soup did that along with passing a lotof gas.
What do I need to look for????

In the beginning I had a hard time passing the gas/belching also. If you brought home that volumizer thing sucking that air in kept making me belch for some reason. Also, just going and sitting on the toilet helped as well.

The only painful gas I have had was right out of surgery. I have had gas, just not painful. I haven't had hardly any pain in the whole experience. I am so thankful! Keep up your walking and that will help a lot. I haven't gone anywhere but the pharmacy on the way home from the hospital. I think I will venture out tomorrow.

I have the same fluid issue. I've solved my protein issue with protein shots. Every 2 hours, I make a shot of protein mixing half a scoop of vanilla whey protein powder with skim milk. Its delicious!! Like drinking vanilla milk, if you ever liked that. 1 scoop = 23 g of protein and 120 calories. I have about 4-5 shots a day. I also add 3/4 scoop to my light n fit yogurt, which is 6 oz but I eat it slowly over an hour for breakfast. This routine has been working for me.
My issue is the fluids. Having to remember to sip every 10 minutes or so. I was never big into beverages beforehand so this is new for me. I'm sticking with gatorade 0 and vitamin water 0 for the electrolytes and vitamins.
My dr didnt have me on a liquid diet beforehand, just 24 hrs pre-op. I also didnt have a lingering drainage tube. I can't relate to a lot of experiences I read folks having here, but I can say I'm very happy with how smoothly the process has gone. I'm starting to have mental hunger, but its summer and the smell of BBQ is in the air. I'm resisting it with no effort though. This tightness in my chest tells me to stay FAR away lol
