I would skip the extra clothes. Wear something comfortable when you arrive and wear the same thing home. No need for pjs. You will have catheter and IVs in and it's easier to stay in the hospital gowns. I wore two, one opening in back and one opening in front.
Here is what I brought
Toothbrush and toothpaste
hair brush
lip balm
cell phone and charger
Bariatric notebook
C-pap machine.
You may want to bring a robe for when you walk but it isn't necessary.
I slept alot off and on (most of the first day). You are so busy sipping, walking, respiratory treatments, blood pressure and giving blood you don't have time for much else.

I didn't have anything in the hospital with me. I'm a cell phone addict and I went 24 hours without it - almost died, but didnt ;-p
They gave me a tooth brush and toothpaste. The gowns they had were fine - I don't think they would have let me wear anything else because of all the damn wires I was attached to.

This is what I have on my list so far. I know there is a lot of things I may never use, but would rather have it in case I need it...
hair brush, hair tie for longer hair, deoderant, insurance. Info, ID, etc, tooth brush, WLS binder, toothpaste and toothrbrush, PJ Bottoms/shorts to wear under gown for when we walk the halls, Protein Drinks (in case I cannot tolerate the hospitals and in case i need them for ride home), socks, Neck Pillow, Gas-X strips, snap-front bra, chapstick, puke bucket for ride home (keep in car for ride home), pads, wash rag for face on ride home (wet before leaving hospital and keep in ziplock in case you get sick or nauseated), lotion, water bottle (for ride home), book/magazine (most say they never needed them, but just in case), shampoo and hair conditioner (I hate the hospital kind, cell phone/charger, underwear (several pair), crystal light packets, loose pants and top or loose clothing to wear home, pillow for during hospital stay and ride home to hold on belly, slip-on shoes.
I also read a poster comment that when they got nauseated in the hospital, the nurse took an alcohol swab and rubbed it under her nose and it went away immediately. I plan on bringing some of those with me just in case.
