The water and baby food amount is good since you've just got out of surgery but you know you need to increase but if you aren't able to retain it long that could get hairy so do as the doc said, if it doesn't stop then please go to the hospital, you don't want to get worse.  I can't help with the GTube, I didn't come home with one.  I sure hope you get better soon hon.

Is anyone having issues with GTube? The last 2 time I went to clean mine out, nothing came out. I thought that was weird. Especially since the 1st few times was a lot of fluid. Not sure what's going on. I had surgery on Tuesday and so far haven't had too much luck. Just found out that the whey I was taking before the surgery I'm now allergic too. I thought it was the brand but since I have tried 2 other brands and came to the conclusion that it's the whey. I have bought soy protein but haven't tried it yet. I also haven't been able to keep anything from going in one end and coming out the other immediately. I was worried about dyhyration. Called the doctor and he told me to go to the hospitol if things don't change (2 hour drive). Today I've kept down about 30 oz of water and 6 oz of stage 1 baby fruit.

I had surgery on the 29th and today I am suppose to start my prescription for Omeprazole. When I opened the tablet to put in my applesauce I see that it is in pellet form, not a powder. Not sure how these pellets are suppose to pass thought without getting stuck. I stopped eating until I find out what's going on. I have a call into the nurse but it usually takes awhile to hear back, I'm going to call the office too but I'm just checking to see if anyone else had this issue. Also my stomach has been making gurgling sounds, I don't know if it's hunger(because I never feel hungry), or just really bad gas.Don't know if I should be worried. Last time I went to drain my Gtube nothing came out. '

Topic: RE: June 16th... Oh my...
Hey how are all you June-ies doing?  Everyone recovering well who had surgery already or those stragglers at the end of the month ready and calm?  I am doing great.  No restriction but having my first fill at 3 weeks on the 7th.  I am loosing about half a pound a day for a total of 8 inches and 21 pounds.  Anyone have any great recipe for mushies?  I am getting ready to be real tired of mashed potatoes... I try to throw in cheese or low fat sour cream or garlic to mix it up.  I do not feel like I had anything done and able to swallow a hand full of pills no problem.

Had you all on my mind and wanted to check in God speed to everyone at whatever phase you are at!

I have my Surgery in 2 days! and I join everyone over on the "losers bench" what a funny term huh? "Losers Bench" but this time it means somemthing WONDERFUL, exciting and grand!

My house is stocked with protein shakes and powders that I like, and all manner of clear and sugar Free concoctions. My kitchen and cabinates look like a cross between a Mad Scientists laboratory and a bodybuilders gym room (from all the Whey Protein powder cannisters). Thankfully I love the stuff. I know so many people have problems with the protein powders and thankfully I am one of the weirds ones that actually loves the taste of them! I think the trick is that I mix them with skim milk or almond milk (light) from the beginning so they have a bit more Oooompf and flavor behind them.

Unjury makes a delicious chicken soup protein powder that you mix with warm water and is really, really good! In fact it is better than a lot of that low sodium broth crap.

I got a prescription for 10 Lovenox injectors and some kind of antiacid in a capsule (omeprazole). I'm thinking, "Ok, I can swollow this capsule NOW, but can I do it after surgery?" It says in bold letters to NOT crush or chew the capsule....Um. Well I will see what the doctor/surgeon/nurses say on this one. But it is things that make you go hmmmm.

Yesterday was actually the hardest day for me (psychologically) on the two week liquid diet. (And no, I did not cheat even once. Two weeks of clear liquids and protein shakes). But the family had grilled steak and that was ALWAYS my favorite food. So yesterday I did NOT eat dinner at the table with the rest of the family. I could smell that steak and grill smoke and charcoal and my stomach was doing flip flops of hunger. Then I was downing tons of water and low sodium broth. It wasn't pretty.

I tell myself that was the worst, and soon I will be able to slowly introduce chewable food back on the menu in about a month. If my scale at my house is to be believed (and it probably isn't. It's a cheap old scale) I am already nearly 20 lbs down from just the 15 days of liquids. I chalk it up to more closer around 12-13 lbs down which is still nice.

Tomorrow I am sure I will be a bundle of nerves the long night before surgery and the wait on tuesday morning before, and then...Over on the other side to do my walking and healing and sipping! (Yeah I been reading your guys posts on walking and sipping and walking) ;)

Good luck and many prayers and healing vibes to all of us who have had or are having surgery in June!
Warmly,
Jackie

my dr's plan is much more limiting..basically I can choose 3 oz of chicken, tuna, salmon or 2 eggs; I think cottage cheese or nonfat greek yogurt is ok too- but I don't care for those.  No pasta, rice, potato, breads or starches of any kind. Breakfast today- 2 scrambled eggs; Lunch- 3 oz canned chicken w/ fat free mayo.

I don't know what full feels like.. I've just been measuring and eating just that.

Looking forward to next week for some grilled chicken!

As I'm trying new foods, I'm already experiencing some problems. Turns out that 4 oz. of hummus has 14 fat which is over my max of 10 for a meal. Choosing the instant "loaded" mashed potatoes was not a good choice either. I only managed a few bites before ditching that meal!!

My doctor has said to take it slow.. but I want to eat! I was really looking forward to this stage since it would allow more variety. I'm all about mixing things up! How is everyone else doing at this stage? Is anyone else allowed pureed foods?

I was also wondering how much your pouches can hold. I can do only 4 oz of the thick greek yogurt (Fage 2% is AWESOME with lots of protein) but was able to eat 8 oz of thin oatmeal for breakfast this morning.
