Can you recommend a "count-down to surgery" plan?

Hi - I'm meeting with my surgeon for the first time soon, and expect a surgery date sometime in June (if not June, it's going to have to wait until August). At any rate, I now feel l'm in the final stretch. No more *****footing around --- I have to GET READY now!

Of course, I've done the required meeting with a nutritionist, the pre-op classes (except for the final just-before-surgery one), the psych eval, and the appts with the bariatric doctor. I've read many WLS books and have spent a lot of time on this site during January and February (March was a bit of a haitus). Now, I have to make sure everything they've recommended is in place and ready to go.

I'd like to plan for "getting ready" over the next six weekends (I'm basically worthless for getting anything done during my workweek). Have any of you guys seen or created a "count-down" checklist or something along those lines?

I know that about two weeks before surgery, I have to start following some kind of surgery-prep diet. I'll also have to get various lab tests. I plan to refresh my will and advanced directives and put all my papers "in order." We've got to purge the pantry of the "bad" foods & set up the blender in the kitchen.  --- This is all floating around in my mind, without any order to it, and I feel I've got about 12 days (six weekends) to get my act together.

Please, if you're more methodical than I'm feeling right now, would you share your plan?

Thanks!

I have eight weeks to go and I don't have a plan really.

Here is what I have done already to prepare:

Gave up my Diet coke habit

Decided every week I would give up one bad food

I have started to purchase items needed for life after surgery (magic bullet/small utensils/sippy cup/small containers to divide meals etc)

I have also started my vitamin routine, I figured it was best to develop the habits before surgery.

Started to purchase sugar free syrups to add to my protien drinks (have three already).  I figured purchase them over time and spread out the cost associated with the surgery.

Anyways I still have alot to do like make my will, do up some letters, purchase more items and pack for the hosiptal and clean out the house of all bad food, but I have eight weeks to do that LOL.  Oh but I also have a trip planned in 5 weeks OMG so much to do and so little time.

My surgeon game me a short list -

No more high carbs ie. white bread, pasta, corn, etc.
No more soda pop or caffeine drinks - Must be caffeine free by surgery day
Drink 64 ounces water per day
Aerobic exercise 30 minutes to 1 hour every day
Take 1000 mg vitamin C every day
Take multiple vitamin every day
Drink one or 2 protein drink meal replacements each day
Have all post op vitamins, protein powders, protein shots, crystal light, sugar free jello and broth etc. ready before surgery
Rid your house of junk food.
If you smoke, must be nicotine free 6 weeks before surgery.

Hope that helps
