Mine is June 7th as well! I'm currently a History Ed.major, but, with all of these school closings and teachers getting the pink slip, it's a little frightening!

Hi I live in the UK and I am a student nurse. I currently have a BMI of 44.9 and have a surgery date (modified duodenal switch)  booked for June 12th. I am having this operation for a number of reasons. The primary reason is of course my health but coming a close second is that there is (at least in this country) a certain size prejudice. I know that losing weight and looking 'normal' will increase my chances of employment when I finish my degree. When I sit and think of it though I feel quite angry about the unconcious labels attached to overweight people ...lazy, greedy, dirty and even stupid. This having been said I don't think this will ever change and thus I cannot wait to have my surgery and be treated in the same way as a slim person often is. I would also like to know if anyone here has ever heard of the duodenal switch modification I am having which results in less iron deficiency and still allows access to the stomach and gall bladder post operatively. Its a funny feeling waiting for life changing surgery though, I think you'll agree.....nervous yet excited. Best wishes to everyone else either thinking about or booked in for surgery. xx

Ha!Not yet a teacher, but I'm a History Ed. major! My surgery is on June 7th! I'm so ready to be a year post-op! I'm kind of sad that the 4th of July will be a bummer, but, I figured that I have had my fair share of pigging out on the 4th, lol!

Officially I don't have a date yet but I have time off starting June 1 and I am hoping that I can get that day.  Thankfully my insurance is a complete go and I have all but the nutrition classes to be done and a sleep study.  I am doing the sleep study Thurs. and meeting with the nutrionist on Friday and also with the Dr.

Here's to June!
I may not be in controll but God is!!!  I am loosing my way to Scotland!!
