Topic: June 2nd is my surgery!!
Hi everyone. I'm new here. I started my journey with WLS on Jan. 26th 2009 and my surgery date is finally almost here, June 2nd. I am excited and nervous about my surgery. I am mainly nervous over being put to sleep. I don't like being put to sleep. I have a wonderful husband that is helping me not to worry about it to much though.
Dr. Bauman is doing my surgery (he's in Concord, NC). Is anyone else having surgery with Dr. Bauman around my date?
I look forward to meeting some new people here and good luck to everyone still on the long journey of WLS.

Don't be worried about surgery it's really not bad, I have had a few. They take you back and you get on the table, then they give you gas and something in your IV, then next thing you know someone is waking you. I'm more worried about the pain after and the IV, since I don't have good veins. Well Good luck with your preop diet!
Topic: RE: What are you bringing and buying?
Thanks for writing this post. My surgery is on the 9th and I have been wondering what to bring and have. My surgery is about a 4 hr drive from where I live and will be leaving to go there a week from today and surgery is on Tues. Luckily my sis lives over there so I will have someone to stay with.
I also heard that you can bring your own pj's. Make sure they are really loose fitting though as you will be full of gases etc. But, a person always feels better when they get into their own clothes. Slip on shoes for ride home is helpful and like the previous poster said...a pillow is a must for if you start to laugh or hit potholes etc. 4 hr drive back home...I"m going to have an industrial size pillow with me!

Congrats that is soo exciting. Mine is tentatively scheduled for the 9th. If that doesn't work then it will for sure be on the 29th. Here's to us all on a fabulous safe journey to the losers bench!

The only thing I kinda raise my eyebrows too is that you have to watch the sugars. They can make a person dump and get really sick. Especially early on...Oh wait I didn't see if you were having RNY or something else...I'm speaking from RNY anyway. Just thought I would throw that out there! Good luck in your journey!

Hi, you guys!
I just found out this last Thur. that my surgery date is probably June 9th as well. If something comes up (which they don't think it will it will be scheduled for the 29th. I will find out for 100% certainty on Monday. I am so excited as you guys are too.
About the liquid diet have you checked with the doc about that? I'm sure they have great answers for you so your not worried about the low blood sugar cuz that can be scary. Anyway, lets raise our glasses (of soon to be protein drinks) to us all and our new lives about to emerge! :)
