Topic: RE: June 29th!!!

Hi! We have the same date for our new birthday! I have had my date for a few weeks now but the closer we get the more excited I am getting as I'm sure its the same way for you.

My liquid diet is only 2 days and so I feel for you however know that you will do just fine. Have faith in yourself and you can conquer anything! You want to listen to your doctor, of course, but just a side note....I read on the RNY boards that a surgeon said that if you have a large liver it doesn't stop them from getting in there and getting the job done, that they have a tool that literally moves it out of the way. This surgeon said that if your pre-dispositioned to have a large liver that a week or 2 of liquids isn't going to make a dramatic difference. Please believe, I'm not saying to go against doc's wishes but just know that you will do fine and don't worry. You'll do great and we'll both be sitting pretty on that losers bench! If you want to talk please feel free to message me! Good luck in your journey!

I was wondering if you had to do the 6 months of medical supervised dieting?  If so, what type of dieting did you have to do?  If not, what type of issues did you have that they approved you so quickly without that?

Topic: RE: June 15ers getting excited?!?
Yep, getting excited and nervous.  I'm spending lots of time and brain power (and I have so little to start with ;o) to making sure I have everything taken care of.  Being a single mom, just the logistics of getting kids shifted around is a task in itself!

I have been on liquids since Monday (today is day 4) and I'm feeling rather hungry!  I have stuck with chocolate protein shakes as what I am able to get in, with a few crystal lights / water too.  I tried a vanilla shake and couldn't do it.  Then I tried some chicken broth and couldn't do that either!  So, water, crystal light and chocolate shakes it is for me!

I have struggled with not being able to smell food without just feeling like crap.  So, I've had my 11 yr old daughter making quick, easy dinners for her and her brother while I hide out behind a closed door in my room!

I think my brain is on overload.  I have lost and forgotten so much in the last 2 weeks!  I'm looking forward to the other side and new things to think about :)

Good luck to you on Monday.....everyone is in my thoughts and  prayers as our day gets here!

I had my surgery on the 8th.... and I actually came out of surgery heavier than when I went in!

I'm assuming it was the fluids they gave me in my IV..... I've also been REALLY bloated. Today I'm finally down to my starting weight.... lol.

Just give it some time.... we'll start losing soon! :)

Yay!

My surgery was also on Monday... I couldn't ask for a better experience! The surgery itself took about 33 minutes, and the surgeons aid my organs looked perfect, and that everything went flawlessly.

Took me about an hour to wake up from anesthesia, another hour to start drinking fluids, another half hour to get up and start walking.... and I left the hospital about four hours total after surgery... not too shabby!

The incisions look perfect, they're glued shut... and so far, I've found that children's liquid advil works WAY better than my demerol (I'm allergic to vicodin and all the good stuff!). I'm doing pretty well, I just feel like I got punched in the stomach REALLY HARD! lol.

Other than that, so far so good! :) I can't wait to get back to work.... I have a serious case of cabin fever, LOL! Did you guys notice that NO GOOD MOVIES came out this week??!! I'm stuck watching season one of CSI... lol :)
