I'm going in for surgery on the 29th too!!! Well, actually for you it will still be the 28th because of the time difference (I'm in Asia), but calendar-wise we have same surgery birthday...Woo-Hoo for us!!!

Had my pre-op tests last Wednesday and I started my pre-op diet today. The surgeon wanted me to start on the 15th, but I'll be out of town with the gals next weekend and I know a couple of high carb meals will be involved along with some alcohol. I'm starting my diet today to try to provide a bit of a cushion for the damage I'm sure to do next weekend.

I can't wait for the 29th!!!!!!

Wow this is weird, I felt so alone with this pre opt diet tell I read this, my surgery date is June 16th too!  I keep getting low blood sugar, and it's driving me crazy because I'm sticking to this exactly as written!  I also feel like I'm not loosing enough, Surgery is on Tuesday and I have only lost 8 lbs, I'm afraid they wont say it's enough.  In the notes it says they want you to lose 5 to 10 % of your body weight, for me that's 12.2 to 24.4, I'm praying I at least loose 12 by surgery date...oh and that's if they weigh me naked first thing in the morning!!!!!

I'm doing great, thanks!

Of course, that's not to say that I was feeling great right after surgery - I don't want to give that misconception to anyone. I definitely went through some pain and nausea, but they give you medicine for that.

Once I got home the main thing that bothered me was my lack of energy - but that's expected after having major surgery! Drinking the protein really helps with that though. I also experienced some heartburn, but they gave me medicine for that as well. So really, I have no complaints as far as pain and discomfort go.

As for weight loss as of now, I have yet to weigh myself. I'm waiting for my two week post-op appointment which is on the 16th. I don't notice any changes in myself, but my parents told me today that my face has already started to thin out.

I'll be sure to post after my two week appointment!

Hello all of my fellow sisters having surgery on the same date!  Ive felt the same things this week crisna626! and added to that is really weird dreams I have had all week. My doctor and the nurse at pre-op testing today said that was normal and reassured me of the many many good works and things said about my surgeon and his staff for preop surgery and postop followup care!

I start my 2 week protein and vegy and liquids diet Monday. Its interesting the many different types of dieting prior to surgery. I am having the Roux-en-Y surgery tho and possibly different than yours.

I am concerned about having the right things at home for when I come home from the hospital and have to start liquid then pureed foods until I start eating soft foods in a few weeks afterwards.  I also want to make sure I am getting enough protein and vitamins, calcium B12 in my post op care/diet.

Congratulations on making the choice to take back your life! I feel empowered by this decision!

Its a really good feeling to be in control of something and make decisions that will make me feel better and healthier in the near future!

My prayers are with you for a successful surgery, speedy healing and recovery and a bright Future full of many many happy memories Getting out in the WORLD AND ENJOYING IT!!! Cindy

Topic: June 24th is the date
Greetings OH Members:

My surery date is June 24 in Atlanta.  I am so excited.  However, the closer the date seems to get, the more questions I seem to find to ask at my Pre -Op visit.  My pre-op visit is on the 18th of June.  Doing the whole NO CARB begore surgery at this point.  Doin really well right now, but I must admint that I have had some very tempting moments.

Is anyone else out there having surgery on June 24th

I had surgery on June 11th and I got to come home about 1:30 today.  It was rough the first day, but I feel pretty good now.  I didn't have any leakage and I'm up walking and everything.  The worst this so far has to be belching.  I have this bubble in my chest and I have to get it out before I can walk after it's out I'm fine.    I want to hear about other recent surgery people.

My surgery is on the 29th as well. I start my liver reducing diet on Monday . I'm worried about the diet as well...hopefully it won't be too difficult to stick to.

I have a concert to go to on the 19th...I hope I can make it through without wanting a beer.

Good Luck everyone!
