Topic: June 29th!!!!! My surgery Date!
Everythings going so fast! I started my preop food intake yesterday. Two weeks and then my surgery! WOWSA> I just started this journey(mid May) and everything went so smoothly and fast as far as insurance, medical records, appts go.
I cant believe it!
I am happy beyond words that I am not having to get started then wait for months to have the surgery. Once I got psyched up about this and prayed about it, I was like !!READY SET GO!!! Lets get this over with and onto change. permanent change......
Since I spent the month of April in and out of the hospital (2times) and spent my birthday in the hospital, its nice to have something to finally celebrate about!
Here is to all of my fellow CO-June-Surgery-Mates!
God bless and keep you.! Many wishes for wonderful outcomes and speedy recovery! Keep updates on your sites and look at as much as you can. It encourages you!! I know it does me!
See you all on the other side!!!

Topic: RE: Just had surgery on June 10th
Hello I had surgery on June 9th in Elk 'Grove Village Illinois. I came home from the hospital on Friday. Someone told me about this website and I am still trying to figure it out.
I had gastric bypass and I have to say the surgery was a lot more difficult then I thought it would be. I am still struggling with pain in my upper left quadarant of my abdomen, still have a drain in which isn't comfortable. I am working hard at following all the rules. Eat, drink water, don't drink water, take this vitamin, take this supplement~it's a lot. I don't have an apetite and have to make myself eat. The protein added to the liquids gives it a yucky smell and I have a hard time getting some of it down. I did have a sugar free popsicle yesterday that I enjoyed but of course that didn't have any protein.
Emotionally I have ups and downs. I am not sleeping in bed, can't get comfortable, so I sleep in a recliner. But that really isn't comfortable either. The nights are the worse for me. I have had a lot of support and encouragement so that's been very helpful.
I encourage you to keep plugging along. Hopefully we can keep up with each other's progress.

I've not had surgery yet, but I would encourage you to follow Dr. Suh's instructions closely. He is a very experienced surgeon and I would expect he has specific things he requires. What I do know is that you must try to get all your water in and your protein. I imagine these first few days are a challenge, with emotional ups and downs. You are just beginning to recover and just learning how to use your new tool. So much, so fast. Try to stay strong and think of the big picture. Keep it always in front of you. (You can tell me this in July when I have surgery , lol). Blessings to you throughout your recovery.
Walking with you on this journey, Mary
"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
