Good luck on your surgery!!!
I wasn't nervous in the very least. I don't know why, but that's just not the emotion I was feeling.
Sleep tight!

So I'll be heading in to the hospital at 5:30 tomorrow. I hope I sleep good tonight. Heck, I hope my toddler sleeps good tonight or I won't, LOL.
I'm honestly not nervous at all. Should I be? I guess when I'm laying prone on the table and they are putting that mask over my face, I might just start to freak out a little bit.
Anyway good luck to anyone else having surgery as well. Hope all goes well!

Topic: June 30th here
Well I am officially two weeks out... I am nervous. I have posted in some other forums but I thought I should find my way here =) It's a little hard to navigate all the forums...
I have ordered some INJURY samples and will try them once I have surgery. I have heard your tastes change a lot. I did buy two of the 42 gram protein bullets. I liked the grape ok but the blue raspberry was awful.
So how early did you get stocked up on your post-surgery foods? I feel like it's too soon..but maybe I should get on the ball?

Aimee,
If I wasn't technically challenged I'd have the lap band info on there too. I had that done by the same surgeon 8/22/07 but it never worked for me and I ended up gaining back the weight I lost before the surgery. Then developed GERD and my blood pressure went up and my cholesterol. Probably from trying to get protein down with salad dressing. So I think there were a combination of reasons why it didn't work but the inconsistencies of the lap band and the type of restriction had a lot to do with it. It was removed 10/08.
I called my surgeon's office today and they put me back on my high blood pressure meds so I'm hoping that might help with the headaches. They were so bad in the hospital before I checked out I started getting nauseous. The pain of the surgery was more tolerable than the headaches/nausea.
My daughter had a stricture very early on post-surgery and so I've always been paranoid about not getting things down starting with pills. I feel lucky so far, knock on wood, that I can get liquids and pills down. Sometimes I try to burp right afterward and it seems to help.
My nut's plan was to have me on clear for 3 days and the next four creamy liquids, an example was a yogurt shake. So today I had some yogurt and thinned it out but it sort of hit me. Not like a full feeling that I was used to with the lap band but more of a painful gassy kind of feeling. From what I've heard a lot of people become lactose intolerant after this surgery.
From what I remember with my daughter you kind of build up slowly to get all the meds, proteins liquids in. I focus now on water and water juice and I'm drinking a lower protein carnation mix with milk. It's no where near where you will be in the future. Also my bariatric group sells us a baratric supplement/vit that you chew four times a day and that helps a lot. My daughter could never get down all her meds. I thought being almost 50 I'd have it harder but she really did, in the beginning that is.
I can't stand the protein mix I ordered and I ordered a ton! Maybe I'll like it better when I can add food which is next week but my appt. with the surgeon's office isn't until the 23rd.
Well good luck to you, I'm sure we're in for a bumpy ride, lol, Nancy.

I am just the opposite right now..at least on the outside. I am calm and pretty well in control on the outside. On the inside I am a nervous wreck! My date is the 18th as well. I have lost about 25lbs since I got my date and I really hope that will help me during recovery. I am trying really hard to work past the mortality rate of 1 in 50 my Doc gave me. Best of luck to us both
Topic: RE: Sleeve Sista?
So do you want to be my sleeve sista? Do keep in touch!
I chose VSG because of the low complication rate, no malabsorbtion issues, no artificial devices left inside, fewer food type restrictions. Right now all that is offered in my area is the sleeve but even if other types were i wouldnt get them done anyway!
Cheers,

Nancy,
Thanks for the message. It helps to talk to other people in the same situation. So if I'm reading this right, you had the lap band first and then went back in for the RNY, is that right? What made you do the switch? Just curious.
As for headaches, I just started having a slight one today. I wasn't on any hbp meds or anything like that before surgery so I'm not sure on that one. I think mine is due to trying to get in more fluids. It's hard to get in all of your fluids/protien/meds. I hope that gets easier!!! I go in for my one week post-op on Thursday, so I'm still on clear liquids until then. I guess every doctor is different. I'll be glad to try new things again. I'm also looking forward to getting my staples out. Well, I wish you luck with your headaches. I do get migraines nearly every month so I know your pain. Hang in there, I'm told that everyday gets better.

Anxious!! That's what it is! An overwhelming state of anxiousness! All of you are so nice for responding. And the hugs are great!!!!!!
I'm taking deep breaths and trying to relax. I just can't wait to start losing this weight!!!!!!
Oh to feel young again! I feel like a trapped prisoner in my own body, and that's sad.

Hi Andrea:
I go to my Pre-Op on June 18. My surgery date is also June 24 in Atlanta GA. I do not mind being your surgery buddy. Please add me to your friends list so that we will be able to keep in touch. I wish you all the best.
