Mine was on Tuesday, so you guys are way ahead of me. . . I'm still working on the gas bubbles in my gut and the gas pains in my shoulder from where they put CO2 in to inflate your belly so they can do the work. The incisions themselves really don't hurt that much - sore, but not real bad.
I'm like you, though - gosh I hope this is worth it. I think I may blog something so when I'm tempted to break my diet in six months and eat whatever at Christmastime, I'll remind myself what I put myself through to get here! I have one drain in until next Friday. I know I need to walk a long way today. I have to do something to break up this intestinal gas.

I am in the same boat. I am fun sized too (5'1") 250 at surgery (6/3) and currently hovering around 235-237. Haven't lost in over a week. "They" say it is normal and my body is trying to get adjusted and I will start losing again. All I know is this...I best be seeing a return on my investment.
Topic: RE: Surgery date next Wednesday the 24th
Hi Jimmy,
My name is Jackie and I too am scheduled for RNY on the 24th. I was scheduled for 07/07/09 and got a call today that the doctor had a cancellation for the 24th, so I grabbed it and ran. I also am on a list of meds and take 700 units of insulin per day along with 20 other meds a day. If I can't come completely off, then at least cut way back on them. I am not scared or nervous about having WLS, but scared of what would happen if I don't have WLS. I live in Carrollton, GA and am having my surgery in Birmingham. Good luck to you and look forward to sharing our upcoming journeys
Jackie.

I think you should be calling your surgeon. I don't think you should be taking 10 oz of anything at one time. Or call your dietician. Mine has been really helpful. Every doctor sends there patient home on somehting diffierent it seems like. I came home on pureed foods but since my pouch is onlky 4 oz there is no way I could hold anything at once that is 10 oz.

I'm trying my best to just take my pain meds and get my butt moving around a bit. I was perscribed regular percoset pills and i just crush them up and put them in a shot of water or apple juice. Seems to work really well. See if your docter will give you something stronger maybe. Being in pain is not condusive to a healing body. Good luck!

Hello,
This is my first post as I've been lurking alot. Well i've been approved by insurance, have done my nutrition & exercise courses, pre-op appt. with doc, pre-op cert with hospital, and pre-op class. so now I just have to drink clear liquids all day Tuesday and arrive 6:00am Wednesday for my RNY procedure. Yes the loss of weight will be great, but i'm really looking forward to getting rid of all the med's I have to take. I was a dare devil as a kid with skiing, surfing, doing stupid things that would get you the biggest air and with many wipeouts and injuries i'm paying for it now. Last year I had 2 total knee replacements. That went really well, so I know this wiil also. With the new loss of weight these new knees are going to do amazing. Those past years with the bad knees really slowed me down and added the weight on. So soon I will be able to do all sorts of thing I liked to do in the past minus the big air stupidity. Well wish me luck and i'll post my progress as I travel the path of many.

Hey guys, so I had my RNY on Tuesday, was released from the hospital yesterday, and I am clueless as to what I am supposed to be eating/ drinking. At the hospital they had me sipping 1-2 oz of apple juice or water an hour, the surgeon printed a few pages for me as to what I'm supposed to be eating but it doesn't seem right. It says I should be drinking 10 oz of isopure for breakfast, there is no way I can drink that much! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE give me some feedback and let me know what I'm supposed to be doing. Thanks!!
