I'm pre-op so I can't help much but I read a post called "alien spit" and it talked about this problem. Hopefully that can help you out. Good luck!

Welcome home Carin and thanks for the update. From what I read on this forum. every day gets better and better. YUCK on the xray drink. Hopefully you can get on soft foods soon. Keep up the excellent work. 50# pre-op is very impressive.

I agree that 10oz is way too much. I would stay on the 1 to 2 oz and see how you feel. I believe most everyone can do up to 4 oz at the beginning, but I am taking it very slow. I am 2 days out and if I go too fast I have some come right back up. I am even taking a small sip and then slowly releasing into my throat to keep it small. I am measuring eveything out to see how I am progressing on my water and protein.
Every journey begins with a single step.

Glad to hear that it all worked out and that you're home. Mine was on the 16th and it's slow going. Getting that protein in is much harder than I thought. I hope each and every hour gets easier for you.

I'm happy to report that I am doing well and am back home. There was a little complication during surgery on Monday so it lasted longer than we all anticipated. All is good now. Due to the complication, my pouch is a little smaller than was planned, but it should still be fine. I was still having some significant pain so I stayed in the hospital for the 3rd night and came home yesterday afternoon.
Today I'm working on getting my protein in and so far seeming to be doing ok. Hope everyone else is doing well and I will try to take a few minutes to catch up on posts and learn how you all are...and how those that are getting ready to go in are as well!

I kind of had the same feeling myself. But I know that in the long run it will be well worth it. Hang in there!

Yesterday was a good day, did lots of walking so I could get home today.
Drains came out today at 1pm and I took a shower and went home.
I was in a lot of pain prior to the drains coming out and the drains felt like hell coming out.
I had 2oz milk for dinner...will start back to shakes tomorrow...can't wait for two weeks to go by so I can switch to something to chew on, the broth and jello didn't cut it- could barely get even a few bites/sips down...
thanks for all the supportCongratulations! You came home the day I had surgery I see. I just got home a couple hours ago, the doctor didn't want to release me the next day cause i was nauseated.
I hope all goes well for you in your recovery, good luck!

I was realized this morning and got here a couple hours ago. Its good to be back (even if there's housework to be done--but I'm leaving that for hubby).
My hubby said the doctor said I did great w/ my pre-surgery diet (I lost 50 lbs) and he was able to perform the surgey with ease.
Had a little scare when I woke up initially, I couldn't breathe well because of my asthma. I remember my arms flailing and they were yelling at me asking "Carin, why are you doing that?" Cause I'm trying to get air you morons, give me oxygen. LOL, no I didn't say that, just told them I couldn't breathe.
The worst of it was getting the x-ray the next morning and having to drink that fluid. Ugh, that was the nastiest, even iafter they diluted it w/ water (and they didn't do that until after I'd drank half of it. I got sick before drinking it and got sick after. Fortunately, no issues w/ my stomach.
I spent much of yesterday feeling nauseated, but doing better today. Just can't shake this little headache, and the bright light bothers me, but I know those will go away in time. I'm attempting to eat some terrible tasting and bland chicken broth here. Yuck, I want whatever the hospital gave me, LOL.
Well even tho I'm new here, I just wanted to give an update.

Topic: RE: Surgery June 15th and having an emotional meltdown. HELP!
Hopefully you are feeling better by now! I know that every day I'm getting more in control. Can't say I feel great, but I definitely am getting a better handle on things. And I have NOT wanted to eat, anything. I think I'm hungry, sort of, but then my stomach growls and I'm not. I am also wondering why the heck I did this. Think I'll post and talk to someone two weeks out and get a pep talk. . .
