I have heard many people have this happen to them too. Don't stress about it at all. They just tell the nurse and then they give you some (from what I understand) net panties and a pad. No tampons in surgery. I am the same day so see ya on the other side. I know we will do great!

Topic: Drains with a Lap Band??
I wondered how many people had drains on their incisions when they woke up from a Lap Band surgery (laproscopic?)  I thought they were only used for open procedures... just not sure.  THought I'd ask.

Thanks!!

Topic: Female Issue... someone help?
Hi everyone...  I've been reading a lot, not posting much.  My surgery is Monday.  I am READY!

Here's my issue.  I think I'm getting my period.  I counted the calendar a month ago and suspected it might be timed just right...     Sure enough, I think it's starting and may be in full swing on Monday morning, surgery day.  What should I do?  I know I am getting a foley catheder during the procedure and will have it in when I wake up.  Do I just tell the nurse when I get there?  I know they are nurses and doctors and I shouldn't be embarrased, but I am!  What do you all think?  Did any of you girls have to deal with this ON TOP OF the usual nerves, fears, everything that goes along with the surgery?

Thanks!!

I am doing pretty good with the liquids and my proteins.  My dear friend who also had a tip for me to mix a protein bullet (available at GNC or othe bariatric sites) into sf jello.  Just replace the bullet contents in the jello and reduce the amount of cold water you add.  This works well the bullet has 45 grams of protein and the "protein taste" is masked well with the jello.

I have also stuck to safe foods.  Things that I have been able to eat, and have not had any issues.  I did switch to lactaid for my shakes as the skim milk was causing too many stomach issues.

Good luck everyone.  I know it is a struggle everyday.  The food commercials, smells of your families dinner are challenging for us all!

Topic: RE: How are June 15thers feeling now?!
I had my surgery on the 15th as well.  I am doing pretty good other than always feeling like I need to go to the bathroom.  I am on all liquids still and can't wait to move to the next stage.  I have an appt. with my nutritionist next Monday.

I am surprised how well I do feel.  I stopped taking pain killers on Sunday, and other than a little discomfort moving around at night, I feel pretty good.

Good luck to all of you on this adventure!

WOW sounds like there are a few problems people are having. I have had to take my pain med still about once or twice per day but that is about all. I have not had any nausea and have been on pureed foods since my discharge from the hospital.  I went for a check up today and got my drain out (that thing was long) and it was the wierdest feeling.  Staples were removed. AND I LOST 12 POUNDS!!!!!!!!
Otherwise I have been eating about 1/2 cup food at a mealtime and doing well.  Not getting all my liquid or protein in but doing the best I can.  I think that in time we will all feel so much better. I know everday is getting better for me!

I was feeling pretty good up until a couple of days ago.  I wake up every morning feeling like I'm not able to stand up straight.  I legs/feet are really heavy.  Its not that I'm dizzy or anything, its just that I feel heavy.  Like you do when you get out of a pool from swimming all day.  I'm not feeling nausea anymore and can pretty much get my liquids in up until I'm full.  I'm starting to believe that I need more calories.  I've placed a call to my doc's office, but was told (late today) that they are gone for the rest of the week.  I really don't know what to do.  I don't want to jeopardize my recovery, but I can't go on feeling the way I do either.  It's so non-productive.
