I had RNY on 6/16/09... So far lost 30 pounds (in the first 4 weeks) and since then nothing.. almost 3 weeks now with no loss.. I have lost some inches, but no where near where I thought I would be at this point.
Working on trying to keep my chin up, head down and plowing forward... It's just hard when I wanted to see the numbers on the scale finally drop consistently..
My biggest fear would be that I would have to struggle for every pound this way too.. and so it goes.
Glad to see you are doing well!

Hi, I was banded by Dr. Colin Braithwaite June 1st....Having much difficulty, I am working out and sticking to the diet.........NOT LOSING ANYTHING!!!!! I have hypothyroidism and I am just feeling like maybe this surgery was a waste of time for me....I am a lil on the "smaller" side as far as I am under 200lbs....PLEASE someone tell me that you went through something similiar and that my luck is going to change......Thanks!
Hi Bonnie,
I don't know what your doc has advised on meals, but mine has said that if you aren't hungry, don't eat. At 5 weeks I varied between 500-800 calories per day and my doc said that it was just right, protein first of course. I usually eat 2 meals per day. Eggs have been good for me and also cheese. I can't stand shakes so for me, those have been out.
My nutritionist says that early on, just get as much protein as you can, maybe 60 right now is too high? I just looked back at my food journal and at 5 weeks I was eating between 40-60g of protein and my docs were happy about that, but I had started solid food by then. Ofcourse follow your docs orders.
Have you started working out. I have found that moving more gets things going. Even a daily walk helps a lot.
Seriously, most of all stay positive and follow the guidelines. You can do this!

HI Everyone,
I am Ana and I had a revision from a VBG 13 years ago to a RNY on June 1st.
I started at 310pds (high) and am now at 269 (lost 31pds since the surgery and 40 total). I hear revisions are slower to lose (more like lapbands....so I am trying to be patient.
This week the scale hasn't moved at all so far...although I am eating about 600-800 calories a day and exercising 3-4 days a week (45min on the elliptical, burning 350-400 calories).
This is my second stall since the surgery but my first stall lasted 2 weeks as I was having complication with the revision. Long story but possible leak and 2 infections in my tummy :(
Thank God, I am all better now :)
Again my loss has been slower, but I am trying to stay positive. Like many others have said, I am scared to death that I will be the person this doesn't work for and especially since it's a revision, I am worried about being a double failure. I guess it's natural to be afraid.
I have had 2 major dumping episodes and in both cases I just felt very unwell and went home and fell asleep. The last one was on Sushi and I fell asleep for 5 hours...this never happens in the middle of the day. I guess I am still learning what triggers this....
As an fyi, my loss chart looks like this...
June 1 299
June 4 310 (fluid from surgery)
June 15 280
June 29 285 (what!!...complications/fluid)
July 6 278
July 13 277
July 20 272
July 27 269
Aug 3: ???
Thanks to everyone for posting. You have no idea how much it helps to hear similar stories.
Please report out on how your doing.

320high 1month post op 260
I am not going to weigh in again until the 14th... I just get too upset when I see no change.
I have lost inches - I did measure myself prior to surgery.. so at least there is that right?
My clothes are falling off of me, so something is happening. People are commenting and I don't think it is to be nice...
Hang in there and let's keep in touch on this - it's so nice to know I'm not alone! I can't wait to be under 250.. that will be a huge milestone moment for me!

I had sugery on June 26, so a little over a month out. I have a few questions that I would love some help with.
I am now on week 5, so the soft food phase and I still am having a hard time keeping down my dinner. I can eat breakfast and lunch but when it comes to dinner it either takes me over two hours to eat or I eat a small amount and it still seems to come back up......
Also, I feel that no matter how much I walk and work out I'm not losing much weight. I am working on walking at least 1 mile to 1 1/2 miles every other day along with walking down 15 flights of stairs just to take one more step. As for what I am eating - low sugar low cal. I keep a journal of calories and protein and I am lucky it I am able to get 800 calories a day it is usually around 500 calories. I am working really hard to get the 60g of protein per day, I take protein drinks in order to get most of it.
Can anyone give me some pointers on how to start shedding the pounds?
Thanks in advance- I look forward to hearing from you all!
Bonnie
