I had surgery done on Tuesday, the 30th, and came home yesterday.  I am still sippin water out of the little medicine 1 oz cups.  Today, I drank 12 of them.  Then I also had two jellos, a SF popsicle, and 5 1 oz things of chicken broth.  Am I doin this right?  Should I not be getting more in?  It is 9 at night, and I will continue to sip throughout the night as I am still not sleeping right.  But am I doing this right?

I am having to build up the amount of liquids I can take in. Each day is a little more than the day before. It used to take me all day to get about 20 ozs in. I'm up to about 44-64 ozs a day of just straigh****er now. I also freeze Propel water and make them into popsicles (at my drs suggestions, good vitamins and liquids), chicken broth is a good liquid, decaf tea (even though I don't really like it that much), and Sonic Lemonade are ways that I've been getting in liquid without having to just drink only water. I find it's much easier to get the liquid in if it is at room temp. Though I am tolerating cold liquids now MUCH better than I was two weeks ago. I have had to go into the hospital once for dehydration (just an in and out ER trip), but I was also having vomitting issues. Hope that helps some!

Does Sonic have sugar free lemonade? If not, you can tolerate the sugar this soon out? I am with the first poster. I had my surgery on the 29th with a few complications that kept me in the hospital til yesterday. I am getting more and more in everyday but the protein is still a real hard one for me. A sonic lemonade sounds delightful so just wanted to check on that!

See now with me I cannot have protein, strictly clear liquids until the first week out.   Do you like the whey protein shakes?  I started drinkin those before surgery and they are num num.  $15 for a big thing of it at wal-mart.

I know I am not getting enough water.  I am trying hard!  You sound like you are doing things right.  I often wonder myself... is this right??  For me, I do not have to sip in 1oz. portions.  I generally just fill a glass with water and sip throughout the day.  I pretty much sip the way I've always sipped.  Sometimes I drink a little more, sometimes less.  I can have about 4oz. of a protein shake at one time.  I drink carefully.  When I get halfway done (about 3-4oz) I def. feel full and need to stop.  Maybe I should be sipping more slowly?  I'm not nauseous or vomitting, so I figured I was okay.

I say keep up what you're doing if you feel good!

I drink the Small Lemonade from Sonic it is 5 calories and 1 gram of sugar. I am extremely sensitive to sugar right now, still on nausea meds actually, but I have had no problems with the Lemonade. It takes me almost all day to drink the small (small sips in between water), but it's a nice treat and variation from water and Crystal Light.

I had my surgery the same day as you!!  I also have the same trouble.  I am sipping but it doesn't seem to allow me to get in the normal 60 oz.  I am hoping that will come.  Now that I am on puree, trying to find the time to stop drinking before I eat is also a challenge.  I hope you are sleeping better...
