Drains with a Lap Band??

I wondered how many people had drains on their incisions when they woke up from a Lap Band surgery (laproscopic?)  I thought they were only used for open procedures... just not sure.  THought I'd ask.

I'm RNY and so I'm not totally sure. I think it really depends on your surgeon. I believe my surgeon leaves one in for lapband and 2 for RNY. Though that is from a distant memory so I could be very wrong!

I had laproscopic RNY and had a drain in for one week. I think it is just surgeon preference though because some others on here did not have one at all.

Okay thanks!  I guess I'll soon find out! 

Just to report back in...   I didn't have any drains.  Good!  One less thing to deal with!
