For the first couple of days home it seemed like every time I stood up, I got the hiccups.  That seems to have gone away now.

I'm getting my liquids down well......and for the last 2 days have been feeling hungry. I'm looking forward to the time I can eat a little more substantial foods!

I came home on Thursday and walked 20 minutes that day.  Since then I have been walking for 20 minutes at least once a day, if not twice.

Wow that is great!  I gained 12 pounds after surgery and just got that off as of today.  Tomorrow is one week for me and I'm back to square one.

My biggest fear is I won't lose... I know that is irrational, but that's the way it worked in the past.  I think I should maybe get my scale out of my house or I might go bonkers.

Starting to get frustrated by all the commercials about food.  Went to the grocery store today to pick up laundry soap and everything "SOUNDED" so good to me.  I got a little upset thinking of all the things I can't have right now.  I'm not hungry at all, so this must be "head hunger".  I'm glad I read about this here so I could be emotionally prepared for it!

How is everyone else doing with the barrage of food everywhere?

Dr. Benn gave me an incredible tool.. and I intend to make the most out of it!!

I can't wait to eat something other than liquids myself.  Just a hearty cup of soup would be nice.

I had the VSG on 6/16 and the first two nights I woke up thirsty and when I drank some water it caused me to throw up.  My doc said to try something with flavor first, i. crystal light and then do the plain water if I wanted.  I am not a powedered drink fan.

I don't see how anyone can get in 64 grams of protein a day in the first week.  I have to take small sips and it takes me about 30 minutes or more to drink an 8oz carnation instant breakfast.  I have done really well with cream soups, sugar free jello and muscle milk.  Although it still takes about 3/4 of the day to finish that.

The two biggest challenges for me are the rules that the dieticians kept saying about only eating 3 meals a day and no snacking/grazing between.  I can't get my head around that with the amount of time it takes to get one "meal" down.  Also, the food commercials are driving me crazy.  Sort of.  Because my taste buds have seemed to change too.

I really need to set what I am going to eat - track how much I actually ate and then how long it took to eat it.

On the bonus side, I am feeling great.  I haven't taken any pain meds since Sunday.  The soreness has really started to subside and I got to sleep on my tummy last night.  Yippee!!

I really enjoyed reading everyone's post about this and I hope to keep more discussions going.  It's almost like going to a foregin country where you don't know the language and you need a lot of help interpreting what's going on with your body.

Every journey begins with a single step.

I find that I am really having trouble with the water. The protein I can get down, especially with the shakes. Yet, I cannot seem to get down all of my water too! i am really working on that but I can eat things (pureed of course). But drinking water seems to be my main problem!

I am doing pretty good with the liquids and my proteins.  My dear friend who also had a tip for me to mix a protein bullet (available at GNC or othe bariatric sites) into sf jello.  Just replace the bullet contents in the jello and reduce the amount of cold water you add.  This works well the bullet has 45 grams of protein and the "protein taste" is masked well with the jello.

I have also stuck to safe foods.  Things that I have been able to eat, and have not had any issues.  I did switch to lactaid for my shakes as the skim milk was causing too many stomach issues.

Good luck everyone.  I know it is a struggle everyday.  The food commercials, smells of your families dinner are challenging for us all!

I absolutely hate the liquid stage of this, the clear liquid stage to be exact.  Supposed to be on it for 2 weeks, but it also stated in my pamphlet to move onto the next stage (full liquid) when I feel ready, and I feel ready now.  I had me 4 oz of my protein shake this morning and it was so freaking good.

I haven't started tracking my liquid intake, partially because I'm stupid I guess (I have signed up on thedailyplate, but its a little confusing at this point)?  I don't know how to track 64oz of liquid.  I mean I have a 1 pint 0.9 fl oz bottle of water, am I supposed to drink the whole thing, or just part of it?  How many oz are in a pint?  I know that w/ my broth's, I'm eating 1/2 c as required and I have that 2 to 3 times a day.  My other choice is jello, which is also 1/2 c, but I bought these little sugar free squares (so less messy than the cups, LOL), and I will have one or two of those, and I don't think that's 1/2 c (they are small little squares), but I'm usually full by then.

I have Crystal Light and other sugar free drink mixes that I mix w/ water and protein powder and I sip them periodically through the day, plus I also have the CL popsicles which to me are so much tastier than the drinks themselves.

I can't wait to get to the pureed stage at least.
