My surgery was also on Monday... I couldn't ask for a better experience! The surgery itself took about 33 minutes, and the surgeons aid my organs looked perfect, and that everything went flawlessly.
Took me about an hour to wake up from anesthesia, another hour to start drinking fluids, another half hour to get up and start walking.... and I left the hospital about four hours total after surgery... not too shabby!
The incisions look perfect, they're glued shut... and so far, I've found that children's liquid advil works WAY better than my demerol (I'm allergic to vicodin and all the good stuff!). I'm doing pretty well, I just feel like I got punched in the stomach REALLY HARD! lol.
Other than that, so far so good! :) I can't wait to get back to work.... I have a serious case of cabin fever, LOL! Did you guys notice that NO GOOD MOVIES came out this week??!! I'm stuck watching season one of CSI... lol :)
I'm just a hair under 5'1.
12/1/2009- Third Fill, 7cc in a 11cc band
11/3/2009- Finally under 200lbs!!! YAY!!
Hi. I am glad to see so many have had good experiences! I have to say that I also had good a good experience! I am a revision (vbg to rny) so my surgery and hospital stay were longer. The Dr. had to remove a lot of scar tissue so I am very sore. I still have in some tubes... One will come out next week and one will come out in 5 weeks. The later is the source of the most pain... To anyone out there considering Georgetown, KY and Dr. Sonnanstine, they are GREAT! I am not just saying that. I had such great care by such friendly and caring people, I didn't want to leave. Dr. S is fantastic. He was genuinely happy to report to me that my surgery went very well. He checked on my often by phone and in person. The nurses were caring and fun to be around. I don't think I met up with a single grumpy person... even when I woke up in the recovery room groaning and begging for pain medicine... I imagine I was somewhat melodramatic. But they got the medicine and kept giving it to me until my pain subsided. My surgery was Monday morning and I got to come home Thursday evening. Pain is still an issue but is relived by meds. So far, I've had not trouble getting in my protein and water. Also, jello snack puddings (no sugar added 60 calories) are great!
