Hey, its been two days,.......two days of HELL ahhhhhhhhhh. This liquid diet is nasty nasty nasty!! I have had to change mine and tweak it a bit as long as I am staying under the 1000 cal limit each day. I tried the shakes that they told me to drink and couldn't keep them down, I even tried a different brand and that make me sick to my tummy. So I have been eating a lot of broth, sf jello, protien bar 2x a day, lots of water, water, water, and gaging down one shake taking small sips throught the day. I can say the diet does work as I have lost 5 pounds in the last two days.........yea me! Anyone on a diet that is not a liquid? What are you allowed to eat?

How much broth are you eating at one sitting? I am so afraid to eat the broth. I have been sucking on sf popscicles and I have taken one shake today. You're so right the shakes are so grossss!!!!!! So you lost 5lbs in 2 days, that is great!!! I ate a banana today and I know that is a no no, but this liquid diet is so gross. I need to get back on point tomorrow because I know I have to stay focus.

I have been using just a bullion cube in bolied water, or I get the campbells soup broth that is low fat and low sodium, about a cup serving at a time, once or twice a day.

Hi there, I too am on the optifast 2 week plan.  I agree it is really hard.  I have read info that other people have written and they say they are not hungry but man, I am STARVING.  Unlike you, I like the shakes but the optifast protein bars almost make me vomit.  I get optifast tomato soup once a day and my nutritionist said I could eat sugarfree jello and sugar free popcycles, but no broth because of the calories.  This is day 6 for me and now my blood sugars are dropping like crazy and I have been having lows really bad.  But I am going to succeed with this.  Good luck to you.  When is your surgery date?  Mine is June 3rd.

Mine date is June 4th. I am not using Optifast like I am suppose to be, the cost was just out of the question for me right now. So I am using slimfast shakes, and my broth is bullion cubes in water......so not much on the calorie meter! I am on day three,....surviving barley! I am hungry, I try to be active so that I don't think about food, however, when I have to make meals for the kids, then I am starving!

Hi I started my liquid diet today> so far so good. The protein drinks aren't that bad. My surgeru=y dqte is the 8th of June. I prepared myself by cutting down my meals until I was drinkingmore than eating and only eating 1 meal until yesterday. And it's made a world of difference doing it that way. I just have to cook for my husband so it hasn' been hard. Made lots of leftovers to tie him over for awhile and then he can cook or i will. Giid Luck

I have been on my pre-surgery liquid diet since May 12th.  My doctor only allows skim milk 3-4 times a day and the rest is water or crystal light.  I have two more weeks to go! I try very hard to avoid food  but in two weeks this is what I have learned about myself that I hope will carry me through my journey.

That just because thier is food in the house I dont NEED to eat it.

That I can still enjoy cooking for others with out eating.  (the kids still need to eat)

That alot of the times I thought about food i wasnt even really hungry. (it just sounded good heck half the time I just wanted to eat something before the kids ate it all)

That I can go out to dinner with my family and still not eat. (yep  just had an ice water while the kids had pizza at family fun center)

When I first started this I thought I was gonna die.  I know now if I can do this.  I can make this surgery work.  That the battle is in my head and my success is not up to my surgeon it is up to me!.

PS I am jealous I cant even have broth, jello, protein shakes, nothin!

Have you tried the Atkin's shakes? Surprisingly, they're not too bad. The dietician recommended them to me, and I'm actually starting to enjoy them. :)

For any of you guys who have hypertension.... be careful with broth. If possible, buy organic.... it usually has less sodium.

I had broth for dinner a few days ago and could not for the life of me figured out why I was feeling so cruddy. I took my blood pressure, and despite being on TWO medicines for it, it was 160/95.

Be careful with anything salty if you have blood pressure problems!!! :)

I haven't started my liquid diet, but I'm scared because I am so sensitive to texture and taste.  But I found a fellow OH-er who posts a WONDERFUL blog that I am constantly checking up on.  She has an entire section for protein shakes.  I haven't made any of them yet, but WOW they sound soooooooo good!  Try this:

She also has an entire section on protein ice cream too

Hi! I am on the pre-ope diet that allows me to eat until the night before surgery. You still drink your protein shakes but you have 2 meals a day with snacks. If you want I can email it to you.
