Topic: Interested in Lap RNY
Hi Everyone, I scheduled to have LapBand 11/07 and then again on 02/08. Both surgeries had to be cancelled. I am now thinking that maybe bypass is a better fit for me. I'm pretty well versed in the Lap Band pre-op and post-op diets, and what to expect from the Band (I have 2 friends who have had it done) but not aware of how different the preparation for bypass is. Also, is the stoma smaller in RNY? Does vomiting occur if food is not chewed thoroughly? This was the scariest part of having Lap Band, the experimental eating and vomiting as the band gets filled. Any input from you guys would be helpful. PS - If I'm posting in the wrong section, sorry, still trying to navigate this site! Looking for a surgeon on Long Island, Suffolk County (Previous Lap Band surgeon was in NYC - too far for me to travel) Thanks!

Topic: RE: Surgery June 23!!!!!!!!!!1
Hi Ladies, I'm also having WLS (bypass) on June 23rd. Nervous and excited all at the same time. Trying to get used to the Slim fast I'll have to drink for two weeks before. The cappuccino isn't half bad, but it sure doesn't fill you up as much as a protein bar. Oh well! I'm writing my will and advance directive this weekend (just in case) I've got three daughters, one is special needs. I need to lose this weight to stay around to take care of her, she'll be with me forever. Anyway, good luck to all of you. (any of you near Philly?) Do you all have to do the two week liquid diet? I wonder where we'll all be (weightwise) NEXT june 23rd? I'm about 270 now, would love to be 150 by then....one can dream....

Topic: RE: Surgery on June 25th ? Anyone else?
Hi Marilyn, I am having my surgery on June 24. It will come quickly,I hope! It is all very exciting and scary at the same time. I can't wait for that day to be here. Just keep busy each day. I'm sure there are things to get cleaned out where summer is here. We will be talking about losing before you know it. Best of luck...Debbie

Shelly, I most surely do not mind you praying for me! So far, that's three of us here going in on the 4th. What time are you reporting to the hospital for your's? What you wrote about "Who am I kidding, there are always going to be some hurdles. But it will be so worth it." Reminds me of something I read just a couple hours ago... Gee, I wish I could remember it and who quoted it. But it had something to do with something being hard for a reason. A reason for everything. Anywho, What time are you reporting for surgery on the 4th? I wish you well and great health with a speedy recovery! See you later this week! Jules

Tiffany, I most certainly will pray for you. I don't go in until 12 noon. You'll be done by then and sitting on the loser's bench waiting for me to join you! Be well! Jules
