Topic: Is the band there/working?
My band date is June 26 of this year.  For the past two months I have bounced up and down between the same 4-5 pounds.  I have been exercising 5-6 times per week.  The last two weeks I have reduced my breakfast and lunch meals to a protein drink and dinner is a small meal(approsimately 1 cup).  Still no movement on the scale.  I drink 60-100 ounces of water per day.  I have never had any problems with any foods.  Sometimes I wonder if the band is working.  Any thoughts or comments would be appreciated.  I have tried increasing my workouts by 10 minutes and still no change.

I feel like a failure, again.  I can hardly stand to think about facing my DR at my next appointment.  I feel like I have let my family down.  They have made sacrifices so we could financially afford for me to do this and it seems to be the same old song and dance.  I get to this particular number on the scale and BAM that's all the loss there is.  I so believed this would work for me, I am having serious doubts.

I agree your brain says one thing and when you go to put food on a plate you go sometimes with your brain and not your new stomach, that why I use a one of the small plates I bought for my grandson he's 2 years. I also still measure a lot of things so I don't go over board. Best of luck on the rest of your journey.

Topic: Liquid diet!
Tomorrow starts my liquid diet. I had a 12 hour shift today, so my focus was getting like 70-80 grams of protein in.. that was a lot, AND THICK! But I can do this! I had two shakes today from Champion, like 50something grams of protein each. I had the first one for breakfast and the second one, I sipped on while working.

Think they'd be better if I put more water in them (at least BEFORE surgery). I hope I can drink these after surgery, they're really good!

Any other pointers for the liquid diet?

Thanks!

Topic: RE: Strictures- Worst Case Scenario?
The doctor went in and stretched my last stricture. I felt like I wa**** by a bus! I came home and slept the rest of the day. I thought that was it for the stricture. I was thrilled, I even got back on my proteins and I was doing great.

A week ago... the familiar gas, the nausea, and here we go again. I'm in bed all day today, barely able to keep down enough water to keep me hydrated. I'll be going in for my THIRD endoscopy to fix my stricture this week. I didn't think I'd ever feel this terrible. I really am starting to wish I'd never had the surgery. I'm down 80lbs, but it's because I have barely been able to eat because I've had so many problems. I went into this healthy! I thought I was going to be a best case scenario because I was having surgery before I had weight related problems, but I have yet to be able to enjoy my weight loss. I have a 3 year old, and I have spent less time with her since this surgery because I've been in bed so much. My husband has lost so many days of work because of all of my hospitalizations. Never would I have ever thought life would be like this 3 months post-op. I'm in my own personal hell...

That is terrific. 70 pounds is amazing.  I am now 3 months out on this coming Tuesday and have lost 68 pounds. I have been hovering at 65 pounds for 2 weeks so am hoping that the recent 3 lbs lost is a sign of good things to come.

Hope the food intake is going well.
Keep up the good work!\

Topic: When does the fill loosen up a bit?
I had my second fill Friday of 1.5cc.  My first fill was 2cc in a 10cc band.  First fill went really well with no major restriction at all.  This fill is quite tight and I was wondering on what day it should start to loosen up a bit and feel better?

Hi Frank
I think you need to focus on trying to get some of the other food groups into your system. Protien powers are good but not everything. I seem to remember you having food issues. Are you the one who could only eaat mashed potatoes and oatmeal cookies?  You may feel better if you stay away from the carbs, I now I do. I find that things with texture are easier to eat for me. So for a meal I will have say some kind of meat, not beef, and some cut up veggies. Peppers and cucumber seem to be good so is iceburg lettuce. I found that once I was eating more normal food I felt normal. I still have my protien shake almost everyday which by the time I have concocted it there are about 50 grams of protien in it. I then add to that protien count other protien rich foods like cheese, meat, etc to round out my day. The other foods, fruits and vegies really help.  Also...when a food gives me trouble I will try it at a different temperature. It is amazing what a difference taht makes.
Hang int here and good luck.

Hi
I would say that everyone of us are and will always be disconnected from our brains and stomachs. It is totally normal. I had my sufrgery on June 17 and have lost 65 pounds. I don't see it but my friends and family do and my body sure feels it.

This is definately the hardest part of our journey.

Keep up the good work and if you need to work on the head space. Apparently it helps.

Hi
As far as the wife and the bedroom...I will stay out of that one but as far as the inability to eat may I suggest you take a step back and slow down. The words of advise I have had from those before me is that if a food doesn't work for you then don't eat it again for a couple of weeks. Go back to the basic soft foods diet. I am surprised you are having mashed potatoes. I don't eat any potatoes or bread or pasta. It is safest not to. You might want to try cottage cheese as a staple and try adding things to it for variety. You would be amazed at the different flavours you can add that will truly change the flavour.  I had surgery on June 17. My pouch was not happy today (who knows why) so I had cottage cheese with some spagetti sauce for dinner. It was actually quite yummy.  In the morning I will sometimes have cottage cheese with fruit flavoured yogurt on it.  If you don't like cottage cheese try buying some extra soft mozzarella cheese and add sauces to it. Again...change the sauce and it changes the meal. You need to eat and both mozza and cottage cheese are good sources of protien.  You should always eat protien first. I still can't beleive you are eating mashed potatoes.

Good luck and hang in there.
it will come with time.
