Topic: RE: Journaling questions
Hi Shalanda, Thank you for answering, I have another question when you have protein for your meal, do you need to stop fluids half hour before having it and an hour after? I had a post today about it and when I got an answer I did feel stupid. I have checked my info from the dr and there isnt anything about when you have your protein drink. Thank you very much for your info, it sure helped!! I would appreciate it if you dont mind keeping in touch!!

Hi Barb, there is no such thing as a dumb ? when your talking about new territory like the weight loss surgeries...keeping a journal is definitely going to help you keep track of what you ate and drank during the day.I mainly wrote out what i ate,and how much of it i ate.at first i started out with 2 oz. of liquid at each meal, then slowly introducing soft solids like cream of wheat, apple sauce 2oz, the 1/4 cup and so on.you can chart your physical activity that also includes , house cleaning. well try to keep in touch. ~Shalanda

Hi Haley, first you need to make an appt. for the information class , to see and hear how the different surgeries work. their very helpful, in helping you decide what procedure is best for you. the classes show & tell how you can eat , what not to eat how slow to eat and how much to chew.the second step would be, to make an appt. with the doctor that you would like to do the procedure, then that's when the insurance plays apart.I had to call in to see if procedure codes were covered under my insurance and it was.I also had to show proof of at least 5 years of being unsuccessful with diet and exercise.you also have to go to a psychologist to make sure your going to be able to handle this MAJOR change in your life...one thing i can say , i was terrified but, i kept GOD first ,and i was successful.I turned 1 year post-op on may 29, 2008.before i had the surgery i weighed 316.05, now i weigh 189 and i've lost 130 pounds and i wear a size 14 in pants XL shirts.this surgery was a blessing to me. I had RNY GASTRIC bypass, and now i'm living life. if u need me i'm here. ~~Shalanda, a new friend

Topic: RE: Anyone have pre-op on June 24 from Duke WLSC
Hi Lisa, Yeah!!! I have been too excited to be nervous. I have plantar fascitius and the closer I am getting to my date the worse my feet hurt. I have been thinking of the feet, back pain, and knee pain being gone. My only thing is I think about my all day pre-op being the day before surgery. How are you doing? Lisa
