Topic: RE: anyone else starting liquids today? surgery in 2 weeks
Well, I guess I'm getting used to the liquid diet. I keep reminding myself how temporary it is. On the upside, I've lost 5 pounds and I'm just now on day 4. (I think I peed out most of those 5 pounds. haha) Hang in there guys, it's really not as bad as I thought. BTW, question for Roy and others who have done it. How much did you lose on your pre surgery liquid diet? I'm hoping to lose another 5 in the next 10 days.

Topic: Stomach Distention! 8 wks post-op RNY
I'm was 8 wks out yesterday from having a lap RNY and have always had a distended stomach. At first I wasn't too concerned since, after all, this was major abdominal surgery. However, fast-forward to my 8th week and I STILL have a distended belly. While I don't have any abdominal pain associated with it, aside from the minor aches once in a while when I'm in bed turning. Anyway, when will the distention be gone! I feel like I'm carrying a basketball around when I walk. Short distances are okay, but longer ones, ugh, and I waddle! I hate that...I've never waddled before. Can someone please assure me this is just a part of the package and this is normal and will go away with time. Also, how much time!?

You should be OK with a 40, just don't go below it until you are approved! Make sure you use everything you can think of in your medical history - rashes, depression, stress incontinence, joint and spine pain, high blood pressure, etc. Most insurance companies just want more than one co-morbid if you are between 35 and 40 bmi. Good Luck!

Started my liquids on the 10th. First day--OK. Second day was hell!! I was soooo exhausted! Today is day 3 and it's MUCH better. I do my 3 slim fasts and then the unlimited quantities of water, broth, SF popsicles and SF jello. I'm thinking this two weeks is like labor. The end result will be soooo worth it we'll forget the pain! Good luck--you can do it, Girl!!!

Topic: RE: I DON'T KNOW WHAT I'M DOING!
Hi, Yes, plus you do have to find out from your insurance if you need a referral from your doctor and from the surgeons office. My insurance doesnt require a referral but my surgeon did require a referral. Once you go to the informational seminar it will make more sense and hopefully the info they give you will make easier for you to understand. Good luck, keep us informed! Take care and God Bless
