Rita, First, what is the difference between an RNY and a lap RNY? It sounds like you are going through what a lot of people have. I honestly believe that if we take the time to think to much about losing our relationship with food, we might not go through with WLS. I don't think I have to say, you can do it, because you are doing it. And you're right. You have to take it day by day. Congratulations! I had my wake up call the weekend before my 2 wks pre-op (1 week into it). I cried and cried, really scared. I realized that I was treating food like an alchoholic treats alchohol. I was really surprised that I just did one whole week with only liquids. Yesterday and today have been a challenge. I will make it though. I have surgery on the 25th and I really appreciated the info. Marilyn

I had my Lapband done on Thursday as well, with Dr. Snyder at Rose Hospital. What a journey we have begun huh? Ive had quite a few moments of what the heck did I do, but I know in the end it will definetly all be worth it. How are you doing? Im counting the days until Wednesday when I can start with 5 pre-picked soft foods, anything is going to be better than a liquid diet!

You'll do fine Angie. In the past week of liquids, I've lost 6 pounds, so I am sure you can lose at least 5 or more in the next week. We are both having surgery on the same day! Good luck! I'm not sure if I'll be going open or lap because I also have to have my gallbladder out so I guess it'll be a surprise when I wake up. You know what Belle, those people remind me of the definition of insanity, which is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting the same result. So why they continue to yo-yo back and forth, you can smile knowing that you took the road less travelled. (and take comfort in knowing that people are stoooopid, and you're not)
