Kyla - I can't comment on relationships ending (mine are starting!), but am very sad for you that your wonderful new life is shadowed by this. Life seems to always be a struggle, right? I hope you are able to overcome the down side with all the other good parts of your new life. Congratulations and best wishes! Cleo

Topic: One year later - and what a year it has been
My one year surgiversary was on June 11th. It was a big day for me. On that day I had lost 190lbs - gone from a size 30W to a 10, a size 50 waist to a 32. My entire body and mind have undergone a transformation that is nothing short of miraculous. I have run two half marathons, a 5K, I'm playing softball and even women's arena football. I feel more alive than ever. On the flip side on June 11th - my 7 year marriage also ended. This has left me really feeling vulnerable and sad. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced relationship issues due to major weight loss? I know this is a personal and sensitive subject, but I wanted to ask others who are in the same boat as I am what their thoughts were. Thanks...

Topic: Protein Chips for those Cracker Junkies like me....
I have found some Protein Chips that are good. I bought them thinking it would help me wean from my cracker addiction. One thing I will say in my defense I do try to always choose healthier crackers but, i do know the carbs are not in my best interest. The product I found was on www.netrition.com I am not sure where else you might can buy them. The are Kays natural Protein Chips. I bought the chili nacho cheese they have 110 calories for 1 oz. serving 14g total carb with 3g dietary fiber so if I am correct you subtract the dietary fiber from the total to get the true carb count which would be 11g. you also get 10g protein per 1 oz serving. they cost 3.29 for a 5 oz bag..not something you would want to spend alot on but, it might serve for those crunchy cravings of mine. I was a huge bread eater prior to my surgery and sweets were my weakness too. I just have to learn to not get into the bad habits I have had of late. I did not go through all of this for my TOOL to fail. I hope this is useful to all of you and thanks for your support in helping me get back on track... Have a Blessed Day! Karen

Thank you so much at least I know that I am not alone in this. I think once I can get over this surgery and get back into aquatics maybe I can get my groove back on with my program. I have found some protein chips I am putting on the board you might find of interest...thanks again , kk

Hon!! I cant help you on the food thing.. because I am right there with you on that. I too have all the joint, back, and knee pain. I just recently had my knee replacement replaced. I have had to back surgeries and suffered from back, hip, and leg pain , until iIhad lost about 60 pounds. I know how hard it is to do ANYTHING when it takes evry once of your strength, willpower, and inderance just to move. Are you doing any therapy for your back? If so ask the therapist if there is something you can do. My knee therapist said "Any movement is exercise" so any little thing you can do helps. When you are sitting in front of the tv.. lift your legs one at a time.. and hold them a few counts, swing them side to side, when standing at the sink.. swing your legs back and forth and side to side... wiggle your butt, and push away from the counter if your shoulder/back allows it.. walk your fingers down your sides...any little thing you can do. This comes from an "OLD WOMAN" who hates to do any exercise of any kind. Please keep your chin up.. and be sure to keep posting on here and the other boards. These people have all been so supportive and helpful to me. Good luck to you. As you heal you will be able to do more and more. Alice

I'm certainly no expert but I'll try and offer a suggestion or two. My dr said most people who have surgery end up gaining weight because once they get skinny, they think they can eat whatever. Well you obviously have found out that isn't true if you're gaining weight. 5 lbs isn't much when you've lost 100, but maybe you just need to find some alternates to the crackers? I suggest beef jerky. Its what I graze on all day since its high in protein. And the PBcup...... I'm with ya hon. But instead of every day... maybe every other day? baby steps get you there faster....... big leaps make you trip and fall. MelT

Im a few days late but i really wanted to post =) I will admit thoose first few months were VERY hard.... i think letting go of the one way i personally dealt with alot of issues instantaneously was very intenese. I guess you dont realize that food is a huuge part of your life until all of a sudden you cant use it as a way to solve your daily problems... In a year i have gone from 303 pounds to 181 a total loss of 122 pounds. I wore a size 28 last june and now can wear a 10 or 12 depending on the brand of jeans... im 11 pounds away from my personal goal weight of 170... i may want to lower it when i get there but thats what i weighed when i started seeing my husband 9 years ago and i was very happy & comfortable at that weight! Im dying to have some plastics done, im almost 24 and want to have the body i should... without the skin down to my knees =) i've already had a child and and pretty sure i am done... so i would love to enjoy a body i am comfortable in... I just want to say to anyone just starting this journey.... thats exactly what it is... a JOURNEY... it has its ups and downs but in the end when u weight a 100 + pounds less its all worth it... i have my life back... i look at pictures and wonder how i let myself get to where i was a year ago... i was soooo overweight and unhappy with life entirely... its definately takes a huuge life style change and when you start hitting your mini goals and dropping sizes it definately helps you along the way... i didnt do this to be some swimsuit model, i did this to be happy with myself and to be healthy... my son will be 4 in november and i didnt want to be the mom who couldnt play with him on the play ground or teach him how to play soccer... i wanted to make sure i was around when he was growing up... and RNY made me able to do that =) I want to thank everyone for the adivce and encouragement throughout this process.... i wish you all the best !! Katie
