Topic: RE: What are you eating?
Let's see.... a typical day for me would like like this....
Breakfast
CIB (either ready made or powder mixed with milk or soy milk)
Morning snack (sometimes but not all days)
Banana
Lunch
Soup or half a sandwich or maybe a small salad
After work snack
Fruit or crab sticks depending on how much protein I have eaten so far in the day
Dinner
Meat of some kind (either meat sauce with a few pasta bits, chicken, pork, or fish)
some vegetable (spinach, carrots, green beans, corn)
Evening snack
Sugar free pudding, sometimes a small handful of almonds, a piece of fruit, or yogurt
And when I am not eating... drinking lots of water, decaf coffee, decaf iced tea, or other fluids.
And I never skip my vitamins
I think the most I eat in one sitting is still at about a cup of food.

My Dermitologist recommends nothing lower than 45 for your face. That is where I had my cancer at. I were a prescription of 60.
Save yourself some trouble and buy the spray on kind. It is great for kids and dries in seconds. Waterproof is wondeful stuff. We use it almost daily.

Hi Jen...
I'm not too imaginative with my food....never have been..LOL
But I like it that way. I eat a lot of salad these days...LOVE LOVE LOVE it
This morning I had a small piece of protein bar, a yogurt and about half a cup of dry special K...(the flakes with the chocolate bits) YUMMY
An hour later I had my protein drink ( with my morning vits) and am now enjoying water...LOL
For lunch I will be having a green salad, topped with sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, finely shredded low fat cheese and a few cashews on the side....
Afternoon I will have another protein drink (with afternoon vits) and more water
Dinner will likely be the same except I will likely have a sugar free popsicle for dessert.
for a TV snack I will probably have a small piece of protein bar and some popcorn.

Hmmm dinner.. maybe I'll take one of your ideas!
Of course, I will also get in my water and vitamins
Topic: Prevent Skin Cancer
Can skin cancer be prevented? The best ways to lower the risk of non-melanoma skin cancer are to avoid intense sunlight for long periods of time and to practice sun safety. You can continue to exercise and enjoy the outdoors while practicing sun safety at the same time. Here are some ways you can do this:
Avoid the sun between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
*Seek shade: Look for shade, especially in the middle of the day when the sun's rays are strongest. Practice the shadow rule and teach it to children. If your shadow is
shorter than you, the sun's rays are at their strongest.
* Slip on a shirt: Cover up with protective clothing to guard as much skin as possible when you are out in the sun. Choose comfortable clothes made of tightly woven fabrics that you cannot see through when held up to a light.
*Slop on sunscreen: Use sunscreen and lip balm with a sun protection factor (SPF) of 15 or higher. Apply a generous amount of sunscreen (about a palmful) and reapply after swimming, toweling dry, or perspiring. Use sunscreen even on hazy or overcast days.
*Slap on a hat: Cover your head with a wide-brimmed hat, shading your face, ears, and neck. If you choose a baseball cap, remember to protect your ears and neck with sunscreen.
Wrap on sunglasses: Wear sunglasses with 99% to 100% UV absorption to provide optimal protection for the eyes and the surrounding skin.
Follow these practices to protect your skin even on cloudy or overcast days. UV rays travel through clouds.
Avoid other sources of UV light. Tanning beds and sun lamps are dangerous because they can damage your skin.
Topic: RE: Anyone else having problems with low blood sugar?
Are you getting in your water? That can make you feel shakey and dizzy if you are not getting all you need.
You say you have had it happen and hour or two after eating. In your meal are you eating alot of carbs? If so your blood sugar raises then drop dramatically, thus the low blood sugar. The glycemic index of foods will play a big part in your blood sugar.
good luck,
Jen
Topic: RE: year checkup with some ????'s
Hi Deb,
I dont have thyroid issues so I cant help you there. I just had my visit/labs done and am low on Vit D also. From what I'm hearing from my doc and other folks on different boards, vit D seems to be something we will prolly need to take for life.
B12 is an easy fix. You can buy sublingual B12 and take that any time of the day--how about taking them with your calcium? I take Flintstones complete 1 pill 2x a day.
While I'm not having hot flashes, I am having horrible night sweats...change the sheets kind. My period has also gone from 3 days every 28 days, to once at random times. While I am 44 it is possible that I'm perimenopausal. I have an appt with my GYN soon.
Keep me informed on your progress!

Topic: RE: question
My dr's protocol is hydration first, protein second, calories third and take your vitamins. His recommendation for protein during weight loss is 90 g/day, more if you're also doing routine and significant exercise (I'm doing about 120-130 g/day). With my exercise, I can still lose weight if I eat around 1400 calories (give or take a "goody" every once in a while).
I've never had problems with the powdered protein I use with FF milk so I still use 1 shake/day as breakfast and I started adding unflavored protein powder ("Any Whey") to some of the foods I already eat (yogurt, turkey chili, SF pudding, cottage cheese) to increase the protein with the least effect on fats and carbohydrates.
You have to "read" your body (e.g., is fiber a big deal for you?) and "heed" your dr's protocol, though.
Good luck!

Wow, sometimes you can learn a bundle from this board. I've had the same type of symptom, probably not as severe or as often, and while I did associate it with a lack of food, I did not realize a certain type of food would benefit me most. Thanks for bringing this one up.
