Hi Pam,
I also like the Atkins bars. I keep them in my purse and at work in case my protein count is low or if I am too busy to get a meal. I haven't tried the breakfast ones, but I tend to like the peanut butter flavors.

I honestly don't remember - either The Vitamin Shoppe or GNC? You should be able to Google and find it. Probably GNC.

Hi Pam,
When I eat protein bars I eat Atkins Advantage Bars 11 g protein
Here is a link on them

Usually I go to Walmart and just read labels and don't really pay attention to carbs...I look at protein first, sugars second and the cals last. (I weigh the protein to cal ratio)

What is your favorite protien bar?
Looking for some new ideas to try. My current favorite is South Beach living High Protien cereal bar. To me it is like a rice krispie treat with peanuts and peanut butter drizzle.
Nutrituion is 140 cal, 5 total fat, 15 carbs, 3 fiber, 6 sugars, 3 sugar alcohol and 10 protiens.
I am looking for something maybe with a few less carbs.

I am a huge fan of anywhey also. Can you tolerate milk? it mixes very well in milk also. I put it in my milk in the morning, and then add to my coffee. I start my day with 25 grams of protien this way. It makes getting the rest of my protien in easier. If I don't do this, I don't get my protien in.
Designer Whey makes a good protien also. They have it in the traditional chocolate, vanilla and Strawberry, but they also have it it Pomagrante Fruit and Orange Mango, which mixes very well with water, and doesn't have the thick protien shake. The orange mango mixes up also like crystal lite sunrise orange. It is 110 cal and 20 protien. It might mix well in vanilla yogart for a creamsicle taste, guess I will have to try that today for afternoon snack.
My third suggestion is South Beach living High protien cereal bars. They are 140 cal, 10 protien. I love the peanut butter one. They have a rice krispie type consistancy, with peanuts mixed in and a peanut butter drizzle on top. It generally takes care of my peanut butter craving. Yep, I was a peanut butter fanatic prior to surgery, and I would eat it by the spoonfuls out of the jar. I have no craving to do that any more.
Hope these help

Dear Cleo, thanks so much, I tried a few protein powders but not the any whey, I will look into it. I do like cottage cheese and beans so I'll give it a shot.

Briggitte - If you find you're not getting enough protein or calories, you might want to try unflavored protein powder in the foods you can tolerate. I recently started adding unflavored protein powder to yogurt, cottage cheese, FF refried beans because I was missing some meals (getting home too late to cook). I knew I needed more protein and calories than my dinner "meal" of yogurt, cottage cheese or beans would give me and I just couldn't do a second protein shake (I have one for breakfast every day). The Any Whey powder I use really is tasteless. A full scoop is 17 g protein and 70 calories. I use 1/2 scoop for 6 oz yogurt and a full scoop for a cup of cottage cheese or beans. If you are able to get your protein, water, and adequate calories in, you WILL continue to lose.

Hi Sherri, thanks for the positive support. I haven't tried tofu, I guess I've been afraid to try it, but you're right, I need to get the protein in and I've heard it's a good source. I'll give it a try.
Don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled with losing 100 pounds. I started out at over 365 pounds and I was 358 the day of my surgery, I am now about 254 and able to wear clothes again. I have no idea what size in womens clothes I was at the time of my surgery, I was wearing mens 3x and 4x sweat pants and tops and now I can fit into size 22 jeans and 22/24 tops, I haven't been this size in over 15 years.
I do want to get under 200 pounds, my main goal is to feel good. I am tired all the time and have very little energy and for some reason I crave salt.
I see my dr for my 1 year check up next week so it will be good to hear what my blood work results were aand talk to them about what's going on.
Good luck on your pregnancy, and may God bless you,
briggie
