gained back 25 at year 5 but have been holding steady at 190 for 1.5 years now. I am still very happy with my result. I think a lot of the gain has just been plain old middle age.

Only two have come back to haunt this board.....Well I've kept most of the weight off so I can't complain...I have learned that they are absolutly right.  You will have to take your vitamins and such the rest of your life.  Shopping is a joy, even if I don't have the time or money to do it.  It is nice to know that I can walk in and it will fit.  Grant it, sleevly isn't pretty and what clevage but hey, it still zips up!
I hope I can keep it up these better habits the rest of my life!

Topic: any long term post-op issues?
I am wondering of any of the long-term post-op patients are experiencing effects of surgery? Any one able to give suggestions and helpful hints to avoid complications?

Brian & Jenn, big hugs to both of you. I know you can beat this. I know someone in real life who had RNY and felt she was drinking too much. She will attend up to 4 meetings a week if she needs to and she says it helps her a lot. Positive thoughts to you~

I ate like crap and gained some weight but it is coming off again. Still able to do more than I thought possible and happy belated anniversary to everyone!!

Hey Brian!
Unfortunately, I did the same thing.  I think the addiction was well on its way before surgery, and while I quit for six weeks after surgery, I started right up again.  I'm happy to say that after my own stint in detox, two intensive outpatient rehabs, I found Antabuse, and even though I only took it a few days, I've been alcohol-free for 40 days.
I did find it kind of ironic to read this post, though, because I was just kind of laughing to myself thinking what will my next addiction be?  I hate smoke, can't afford to shop.......:)

Good luck to you.  Hope we've kicked these horrible addictions once and for all!

Jenn

Sorry this has taken me so long to respond!   After writing the initial post, I found out that I have a gluten AND dairy allergy.  When I remove those foods from my diet I am able to eat meat!  I am feeling a lot better!  I am still struggling to overcome a sugar addiction.  I have cut way back!  I eat fruit, and SF jello... but sugar is still calling my name! Any ideas for that? My diet basically consists of meat, veggies, and fruit!  Congrats on your success!

My wife and I had surgery on the some day !! I can eat meat and she can not ...she uses ground meat for all meals and has no problem with it !! But make sure you eat your protein first to get the full feeling we all are looking for and remember no drinking for 30 minutes after meals
I have 30 lbs to go and I am at goal :)
