question
as all of you probably know......I am about 13 months out from an RNY and have since lost about 135lbs....
I would LOVE to loose about 15-20 more lbs but have hit a huge wall.......
I have just recently been "making an effort" and REALLY trying to pay attention to what I put in my mouth 9have NOT done that for the WHOLE 13 months.....no protein drinks------NOTHING! )
My questions is.....
when I read the nutrition info on the back of food products in what order should I look at things??
calories
protein
fat
carbs
sugar
what are my goals for each a day???
help! Im LOST!
: )

Katie,
Generally every doctor has different levels. I would give the NUT at your Dr office a call and see what they say at this point.
For my, I was not given a calorie intake. My protien is 73 grams, fat is 37 and no more than 2 grams of sugar in anything I eat.
The protien levels they varied depending on your starting weight and goal weight.
Best of luck
Pam
My dr's protocol is hydration first, protein second, calories third and take your vitamins. His recommendation for protein during weight loss is 90 g/day, more if you're also doing routine and significant exercise (I'm doing about 120-130 g/day). With my exercise, I can still lose weight if I eat around 1400 calories (give or take a "goody" every once in a while).
I've never had problems with the powdered protein I use with FF milk so I still use 1 shake/day as breakfast and I started adding unflavored protein powder ("Any Whey") to some of the foods I already eat (yogurt, turkey chili, SF pudding, cottage cheese) to increase the protein with the least effect on fats and carbohydrates.
You have to "read" your body (e.g., is fiber a big deal for you?) and "heed" your dr's protocol, though.
Good luck!
