I hit a major stall wall and need help
Good morning Junesters
I have hit a major wall since March, and need of help.
Here is my issue. I had cancer and radiation to deal with in January and February. My dr gave me strict orders not to lose weight during this process. They upped my protien to 105-120 grams a day. My Doctor recommends 73-79. I went in for one of my appt and had dropped 9 pounds. The nurse didn't know I had RNY and tore me a new one.
Since then, I cannot seem to drop any weight. I do know that I have to trim back my protien, but am finding it hard to do. They had me eating 9 times a day. I know that part of it is psycolocigal from the major scolding from the nurse.
I just don't know how to get over this.
If anyone would share what they are eating and when, I would appreciate it. I also know I have to up my exercise, but some days that is easier said than done.
Any advise is greatly appreciated.
Pam
Pam, the important thing is that the cancer is in remission. big hugs to you!
when I was stuck at 183 FOREVER, someone suggested I knock off 100 calories a day and add 15 minutes of exercise to what I was doing. Now I am stuck between 170-173! (this is a good thing)
Drink more liquids, peppermint tea is very soothing to me, and try to go for small walks. I am taking a "masters" swimming class where she works our butts off! The fact that I signed up for the class makes me go and I feel better on swimming days than any other day of the week.
Best of luck to you honey. You will continue to lose. Your body might just be holding on to calories because it has been fighting the cancer battle with you.
hang in there!
love, judi
Hi Pam, I think what Judi said is the best way to go about that.......I hope I continue to hear that you are doing beter with your cancer....
I have finally I think stalled at 120-122 that's fine with me (i was getting a little to thin)

I know it may sound trite, but having gotten through the cancer is such a success for you! Maybe your body just needs to luxuriate in that accomplishment?
I think your conversation with the nutritionist is better than any advice we can give you. She'll know what you went through with both the cancer and WLS. You may want to schedule some weekly or bi-weekly visits for a while to get your head and body aligned. It's kind of like you're starting all over again with WLS.
Woman, if you don't take the prize for perseverence, I don't know who does. Keep working it - you'll get there!

Dear Pam, my surgery sister:
You have overcome the biggest hurdle....beating cancer.
I get in around 70-80 protein a day. I'm still eating by the clock...a protein drink in the am after my first cup of coffee. Then I drin****il 12 noon. at 12:30 it's lunch.
Tuna, chicken, roast beef, ham, cheese. I've also taken a liking to chicken burgers but usually finish 1/2 to 3/4.
I start drinking again and if I remember to stop before dinner I'm lucky. If I dan't get dinner down, I just stop eating and wait until the fullness feeling passes (usually I get the burps when I'm full)
I can eat steak, hamburger, pork...just about anything most days. Breads don't agree with me but I eat Wheat Thins reduced fat.
I have maintained 146-150 for 3-4 months now. I'm happy with that as I'm 5'4". I wear a 10 pant, medium top.
As far as exercise, I try to walk every day. I always get in stair time..taking laundry up and down and lift a 5-10 lb hand weight. My knees and neck have arthritis pretty bad, so I hear you getting it in every day. The weather can really dictate how much I do.
Big hugs to you.
