How much can you/do you eat now?

I don't know if I'm eating too much or not enough sometimes. I can eat a good amount now of most things and not get pain. It's almost hard to tell when I'm full. Some days I feel like I eat too much, but then there are days when I wonder if I'm eating enough. What volume of food do you eat at a meal? Do you have snacks? How many calories do you aim for, or do you still just count protein and try to limit fat? Have you allowed any carbs back into your life? Ok...enough with the 20 questions. I'll leave you alone now. Good work on your anniversary.. Good work As far as eating. I don't know I am feeling exactly like you do. I don't measure or weigh.. or count... and I know I should. I usually eat about the same thing every day and have maintained a loss of 1 to 2 1/2 lbs a week.. But this last week I have been snacking to much.. and those Pringles go down real easy.. and I was hungry for Twinkies.. all that junk food I have been able not to eat. I ate them and the scale is up today... KICK MYSELF, KICK MYSELF. I know what to do and what to eat. DARN ME !! DARN ME!! I will go back to basics and the junk food is going to go to my 12 year old Girl.. or in the garbage. Good luck. I hope others have answers to your questions. I just needed to vent. Alice

Hey Alice! Vent away!! I'd be giddy if I was still losing! I've been losing and gaining the same 5 pounds for 2 months! If you need twinkies, try Mrs. Freshen's (sp?). I get them at w-mart. They're reduced sugar, like 150 calories and a couple (maybe 4) grams of protein. They have a yogurt based filling and they're not fried. Personally, I need wine and popcorn. I try to add them into my daily intake, so they don't sabotage me. it's my nightly pleasure. I love that there are 100 calorie packs of microwave popcorn now!! i KNOW that if I popped a full size bag, I would eat it. This keeps me honest! Don't kick yourself...just keep on keepin on! Hugs, Jeannie

Hi Jeannie- I have wondered the same thing...how much should I be eating??? I am at goal, but feel I eat too much to maintain it long term. I eat about 4 oz of protein and about a cup of vegetables at a meal. I think I could eat more. I have been snacking on fresh fruit, but I am not sure I should do that either since it does contain sugar. My carbs are all from fruits and vegetables. How about you? What amounts are you eating? I think I eat 1000-1200 calories daily. Anyone else have any input? I would like to know how much you eat. Thanks. Elizabeth

Hi there. The volume I can eat seems to depend on what I am eating. Today I had a half portion of the california shrimp salad at Applebee's and finished it, but did not have any discomfort after. Other times, I'll eat half a wrap (high protein, high fiber tortilla) and be stuffed. I've almost never had that feeling of "if I eat one more bite I'll lose it" I honestly don't know if that's because I stiop myself before getting to that point, or if it's because I've stretched everything to the point of no return. I do know that if I eat something like soup or salad, I can eat a lot. I don't count calories everyday, but when I do, I seem to be averaging between 900 and 1200 calories. My one year was 6/13, but I don't have my one year with the nut until 7/13. I hope she can help. I try to keep meals to about 1 cup total. I do find it funny that the days that i let myself "cheat" and eat more than I think that I should, are usually the days that i'll go down a tad in weight. Hang in there!! Good luck, Jeannie

i know exactly how you feel. i learned recently that most a year out from surgery are taking in about 1200-1400 calories. if you are still losing weight you need to continue eating mostly protein foods. I was also like you in that I was only eating about 800 calories and I had hit a plateau at 80 lbs. now that i have increased my calories and am really focusing on my protein and low carbs and lost 5 lbs in one week. in order to get the calories i needed, i had to add a protein shake to my day. i do have about 2 snacks during the day which is usually, cottage cheese and the protein shake

Biggie Question for me. My anniversary date was June 12th. I lost 100lbs...sadly..months ago. Now I've stopped dead in my tracks. I know why...I eat too much. I'd love to buddy up with one or all of you, to help me get on a good track. The band doesn't seem to be restricting anything. I seldom feel "Full". Because of all the troubles I had in the past with my port..I only have 2cc's in it right now. I was told if the fill was correct..You never had to "Diet". Just eat right & the constriction would take care of the rest (i;e..overeating). That sure isn't the case for me. I know I overeat on a regular basis. OMG..somebody help me. I hate to let this be all for not. Thanks, Jill

I am with you there. I try to stay at 1200 calories, but it is hard. I have found that as long as I eat 3 meals a day and no snacks - not a problem. My problem comes in when I snack. I would love to buddy up with you - I will keep you accountable and you can keep me accountable. Delores

Hi gang! It's been a long time since I've posted here but I figured I'd check it out and see what you guys are up to... I had my resting metabolic rate (RMR) tested and it told me that I burn 1250 cals at rest. After you add in for regular daily activities and exercise I'm supposed to be eating between 1400-1700 cals a day to maintain. I don't want to lose anymore. Most days I'm between 1300-1400 but I still have my days where I drop below 1000. I've only had 2 or 3 days where I've gone over 1700 and I blame those on T.O.M. But I'm maintaining at 101 for several months now!!!! As far as volume goes... I can usually eat 3-4 oz of dense protein and 8-10 oz of slider foods like yogurt or cottage cheese. So overall I guess 1 1/2 cups is my limit but I usually keep my meals at 1 cup or less otherwise I feel uncomfortable for a while. My current favorite foods: Cottage cheese pancakes - have these at least once a day Fage yogurt with blueberries Shirataki noodles (look up www.miraclenoodle.com if you're interested) Scrambled egg beaters with ground turkey, cheese, salsa, and Fage I have not let too many carbs back into my life because they make me feel like **** and they give me the most horrible smelling gas in the world. So - it's not worth it! Oh and I'm scheduled for a lower body lift and breast aug on Wed 8/13 - wooohooo! Bekah
