WOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOO! CONGRATULATIONS Katie! You have done such a FABULOUS job! I've thought about plastics, but I'm not that close to goal and I haven't been getting infections yet. Notice I said 'yet'....I know I will...the winter was good and it hasn't been real warm here yet, but when it does warm up, I dread them. Had them before surgery even. You'll have to let us know when you get your date so we can keep you in our thoughts and prayers. I'm SOOO happy for you! Pam

I went for a plastics consult in February...At the time I was still in the 190's I was quoted around $8000. for a tummy tuck. While doing the exam the PS suspected I had an incisional hernia. So went for an ultra sound...didnt show one, then he sent me for a CT and that showed I had a very large one....... Just above the belly button that likes to hang over my pants. So I have to go to a General Surgeon to have the hernia repaired BEFORE I can have the tummy tuck. So I went to my GP ( I believe in the US you call the PCP's) and he refered me to a GS, and the fastest I could get in was July 3rd. So thats still like 6 weeks away... then I don't know how long the wait will be for the surgery. Once thats done I go back to PS and plan the tuck. I am likely going to need something done with my butt. and all thats left of my boobs is the bags they came in. I had a reduction when I was 17, so I betting a lift wont be an option..... I do have some bat wings but they dont bother me that much.... I just wont spend a lot of time with my arms in the air waving..... I'm so cold most of the time I'm in long sleeves anyway..LOL Good luck and I hope you take before and after pics!! Becky

Wellll, now that you asked..YES! But I'm starting at the top. Unlike most, I'm doing eye/face/neck lift before the LBL or BL. As a matter of fact, I'm not sure I'll ever do the LBL or BL - too afraid of the recovery pain and time required off work. Plus I look OK in clothes but my face is out there all the time. I don't have a lot of wrinkles but have the deep nasolabial folds and the remnants of multiple chins. I wasn't going to do the eyes, but the PS pointed out that many start to see their eye imperfections after getting the face lift. He also said the eyes last MUCH longer than the face or neck lift so you get a bigger bang for the buck. So, I'm scheduled for July 1 and will be in hiding until July 14. Although much of my displeasure with how I look is due to age not weight loss, I never would have had the nerve to do this before WLS. All I can say is YAHOO!!!

My r n y was June 4, 2007. Since the surgery was open, I developed a hernia and decided to have a tummy tuck done with the hernia repair. I had the surgery on Wed. (May21st), came home the 22nd. Surgery was a piece of cake after what I went through last year. The hernia repair was covered by insurance, and the overnight hospital was covered. I had the abdominoplasty done by an accredited plastic surgeon and the charge was $6000. I will also have to pay for that portion of the operation room and anesthesia that was a part of the "optional" surgery. Shoud be about $2000. I have lost 101 lbs and at my goal. My bmi is 23. I had some hanging skin but no rash or infection, just loose skin. My plastic surgeon said there was about 2 lbs of skin taken off, but no fat. I would love to have my upper thigh/LBL done, but it would also be out of pocket and it will need to wait. Would also want a face lift, but I am hoping skin tone will return once wieght lose has eased a bit. My breasts sag now, especially over a flat tummy. I roll them up to fit in my bra. As long as they don't look saggy in a bra, I am going to hold off having the girls done... I use to be a 42D. Now I am a 36/38 B/C. Looks like someone deflated them. I have drains in my incision and I am wearing a surgical girdle that entends from just under my breasts to my knees. It is like sitting in torture chamber. Still the surgery was very easy and I am looking forward to seeing the wonderful (hopefully) results. Good luck to all. Elizabeth

Elizabeth, Congrats! Way to go! I to had RNY June 5, 2007, down 110 and scheduled for a tummy tuck this Thursday. I have to pay out of pocket for it, but feel its worth it. My arms aren't too bad, I can live wtih them. My boobs, are next on the list, but of course out of pocket, so will have to save my pennies for that. I am scheduled for outpatient surgery. I will stay in a hotel overnight then go see my PS for post op on Friday, then drive (ride) for 2 1/2 hours home. Hope that I will be ok for the ride. He called in my RX's early so should be able to medicate myself for the ride home. How is the incision for you? When do you get the drains out? My PS told me 5-8 days, which means a 5 hour round trip drive. I know it will be worth it. Looking forward to not having to tuck my stomach into my pants when I get ready in the AM. Any words of advice will be much appreciated. Congrats again. Lisa

Hi Lisa- Good luck tomorrow!!! It was an easy surgery. I also had my medications before surgery so I was prepared the day of surgery and once I got home. I had 2 drains in. One stayed in for a week the other for a little less than 2 weeks. I was fitted with a girdle in a pre-op app't and when I woke up after surgery I was wearing it. Today is my 4 week app't and I hope to be able to take it off after this visit. The girdle hits just under my boobs and extends to my knees. I have had very little discomfort. I had to sleep with a pillow under my knees to keep my legs from being extended, and a bunch of pillows under my head and upper back, a 30% angle. I had an overnight stay in the hospital because I had hernia surgery at the same time. Once I came home my husband went back to work, so I was alone most of the day and it was not a problem. I had visiting nurses for a week, I think they came a total of 3 times. This was to check the drains. My tummy looks incredible!!! It is truly amazing. My plastic surgeon said she removed about 1.5 to 2 lbs of skin.....it looks like 10 lbs. Although I haven't lost weight from the surgery. I had all the female surgical residents coming in to my hospital room telling me how flat my ab is!! I also could use the thigh lift, upper arm surgery, face lift, boob job...but the tummy tuck was my priority. I am very happy with the surgery. Good luck and keep in touch. Elizabeth
