Time for Plastics Already?!?

I have been having a lot of major pain in my abdomen and lower back. I finally got to the root of it last week. I need plastic surgery. I have a 50 lb panni that needs to GO. So that puts me about 20 lbs from goal. Um, I'm not sure I'm ready for plastics, but I'm sure ready for this pain to stop!

wow Wendy, if you need it for pain relief you need it! are they going to do any extra nipping and tucking for you? I bet you will feel SO much better, and I've seen others say that plastics seems to spur some new weight loss. Start loading up on your protein and let us know how things go!! judi

Thanks, Judi. I have my consult on May 14, and I'm scared, to be honest. And you'd better believe I'm asking for extra nipping and tucking while they're at it! Thanks! The hardest part is to think that I'm technically around 20 lbs from goal (the weight that the surgery won't remove), and I still wear a size 18 pants today due to the panni... It's just odd.

Wow - 30 lbs of skin is a lot. Removal will definitely shrink those size 18s! A double-edged sword: I envy you because it sounds like the panniculectomy may be covered by insurance. I DON'T envy you the recovery...OMG it just scares the bejeezus outta me, too. Let us know how the consult goes.

Yeah. I'm nervous. I've also made an appointment with a therapist to get my head ready for it. I'm just kind of freaking out. I have to give myself permission to do this before I get to goal! I thought I had to sit at goal for a year first. Thanks!

Good luck. I asked about PS and my surgeon told me to start saving that most insurances won't pay. I called my insurance and they pay if it is medically necessary. I called a PS office the other day and they said when I am 20 pounds from goal to contact them to schedule a free consultation.

Thanks. Fortunately, I'm in California, where state law requires coverage of reconstructive surgery after massive weight loss. As I'm down 132 lbs, now, I think it qualifies as massive weight loss! You will need to start complaining to your doctor now about the skin. Any rashes, back pain, etc.
