MIA for WAY too long!!!
I apoligize that I have been MIA for awhile. I started a new position at work and then I discovered that I had a lovely hernia.
Anywho lets go back to 1/24/08. I went to my WLS surgeon as I had felt this crazy lump in my belly. The Doc poked around a little and said. "yep, it's a hernia" GURRRR!!! ANOTHER SURGERY????? you had to be kidding.
Well I scheduled the surgery for 2/18/08, exactly 8 months after my RNY.
Surgery was supposed to be 1-2 hrs. Nope of course something had to go wrong. Surgery lasted 4 hrs. I had 2 hernia's. 4-5 in in diameter each. (my doc said it was a swiss cheese effect) They put a 12in bu 6in piece of mesh under my muscle. I spen 8 DAYS in the hospital. yeah you heard me right. Talk about a long time. I was so sick of my mean nurse. I mean I can only take so much of daytime television. How much Maury Povich can a girl take?
Today was my 1st day back at work since surgery. OUCH!!! I don't care what anyone says, a hernia repair hurts 10 times more than a RNY. No joke.
It has been 9 months since my RNY. I was at 328 now am down to 242. Down 86 lbs which is pretty cool seeing I haven't been able to workout in 2 months. But I can't wait until I can go back. I had a really good thing going before all this fun jazz happened. But ya gotta do what ya gotta do right?
Well I just wanted to say hello to everyone and to keep you all updated.
Hope to talk with you all soon!!!
Ruth
Glad to see you back.....
I just found out I have a hernia to.... I saw a plastic surgeon looking to get a tummy tuck, and he felt my bump and figured it was a hernia. So he sent me for an unltra sound which showed no signs of a hernia, so then I had to have a CT of my belly ....and there it was. So now I have to have the hernia repaired before I can have the tummy tuck....
Not glad to hear that it is more painful than the RNY...yikes...
Also not looking forward to missing more work....
Glad you are feeling better!
