Anyone think of getting pregnant after 1 year post op?
Hi Tracy,
That is one of the reason I opted to get the surgery.... to improve my chances of starting a family (among other reasons). I also have the complication that I have PCOS, so hopefully the weight-loss will help with that as well.
At this point I am down enough that my husband and I are also considering trying to get pregnant. Since it will likely take some time for us to conceive, we will likely start trying before the 1 year mark.
Good Luck!!
Sherri
Hey girls....just make sure you get the okay from your doctors first. You want to be as healthy as possible before hand. Also.....you'd be really surprised at how quickly you will conceive after surgery. Even with PCOS, once you've lost all that weight it usually doesn't take long or is hard to conceive anymore.
Good Luck and I wish the best for both of you in extending your families.
Love to ya,
Pam
Hey guys thanks for the advice! I too have PCOS and went through a lot to get our daughter so I am hoping it will be easier this time. I currently have an implanon implant in my arm that is good for 3 years but we plan on having it removed once we plan to start trying. My surgeon wants us to wait at least until I am 1 year out and would prefer 2 years. We will see. Good luck Sherri!!
Not thinking of getting pregnant...children are almost grown.
But I know someone here in town who has PCOS and had an RNY last August. She is now 3 months pregnant. AGAINST the Dr instructions of waiting at least 18 months.
The Dr warns his patients that they can become very fertile very quickly.....
Best wishes to you
Becky
I can't wait to be able to try. My doctor is pretty sure he will be able to release me at a year. I would love to try now at 8 months out. But I am going to wait till a year. I have one little sweetie now. She is three. Took me 7 years to get pregnant with her. So I want one more. I want to get through the pregnancy so I can start on my plastics.
