Need some prayers and support

As many might know, I am undergoing radiation on my face for skin cancer. I am 12 out of 20 treatments done, but they are starting to do a number on me. My face looks like I have a severe sun burn, and the inside of my mouth has a large ulcer and cancer sores from the treatment. I am pretty much back on liquid/soft food stage, and will be for the next three weeks at least. I can't tolerate anything salty, spicy, acidic (orange, lemon or tomato based). If there is something from your soft food stage that helped you get through, I would greatly appreciate the assistance. My meals have consisted of soft eggs with cheese, yogart, cottage cheese, profect protien bullets and any whey protien with milk. Prayers are greatly appreciated, they tell me it is only going to get worse in the next couple of weeks. thanks Pam

Pam - I didn't know you're going through such a terrible time! Prayers going up for successful outcome and peace while you're undergoing treatment. Can you stand yogurt? It's still a staple for me. Refried beans with cheese? ((((HUGS)))) Cleo

Yogart, yes is my afternoon snack. I actually started using the light Activia. It is really good. Forgot about refried beans and cheese. That does sound good.

Pam, I am adding you to my prayer chain. Anything for a surgery sister! Unjury makes a good chicken soup protein. It's really just broth. Refried beans really helped me as well as hummus, pinto and kidney beans and peanut butter. Keep us posted on your progress, both with your treatments and your weight loss. hugs, Jen

Thanks Jen, Hummus, another forgotten food. I ate it so much during my soft food stage, I kind of got sick of seeing it. Peanut butter was another thought too. It is one of my "trigger foods" so I try not to have too much of it on hand, or a brand I don't care for. Give me a jar of Jif and a spoon, and I would devour the whole jar. Pam

pam you are so in my thoughts and prayers. campbells ham and bean soup helped fill me up. i pureed it a bit. yes there is some fat and salt in it but at this point you just need nourishment. (ps, if you can do sugar alcohols dairy queen has a no sugar added dilly bar - my dh is addicted, i am trying to be strong!) gentle hugs, judi

Pam, I had no idea! I'm so sorry that you're going through a rough time right now - my dad has prostate cancer and I see how hard things are for him right now so I can kinda relate. Have you tried a Ricotta Bake? Its really tasty but soft and goes down great... 3/4 c. Ricotta cheese 1/4 c. Cottage cheese 1/4 c. Shredded parmesan cheese 1/2-3/4 c. no sugar added Marinara sauce 1/4 c. mozarella cheese Mix up the first 3 ingredients and fill 4 ramekins about 3/4 full Put about 2 Tablespoons of Marinara on top and top with Mozarella Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until bubbly. Very tasty, soft, and full of protein! (((hugs))) you're in my thoughts! Bekah
