poll: who eats bread and how much?
hi: i didn't touch bread till about 3 weeks ago and then figured a healthy diet includes some grains so i let myself have half a whole grain english muffin for breakfast once in awhile.
i'm a slower loser than most of you so this is probably really stupid. and i think bread is one of my trigger foods.
gonna talk to my nut on Tuesday (finally!)
just wondering, who is eating bread and how often, what kind?
have a great weekend all!!

I havent touched bread.....not even a nibble. It was one of the things we were told not to eat while loosing, so I havent touched it. However I have read a few nutrition labels on different breads that sound like they would be OK.. Even still I am going to wait till I am at goal before trying bread.

Hi Judi!
Put the english muffin down and just back away... back away I say...
LOL - just kidding! The only bread-type stuff I've even tried is
1) whole wheat melba toast which I will only eat with tuna or chicken salad
and
2) Trader Joe's Blueberry Fiber cake/muffin which I just started doing this week hoping to help regulate the bowels a little better
Bread is definitely a trigger for me and since it doesn't typically sit well with RNYers - I haven't even tried any...
We do need to incorporate some whole grains in our diets but keep a close eye on your nutrition stats. Also, if it starts triggering for more breads/carbs then you may need to cut it out again completely. I'd be interested to know what your NUT says about this...

The way I figure it...if they told me NOT to eat it, then I won't. I know some local girls who had the surgery in August and they are eating all kinds of things we were told not to, they seem to think if they don't dump, why can't they eat it??? They are also not drinking their water or getting enough protein...all by their own admission. And drinking alcohol. ( I refuse to touch alcohol based on all the info I have heard about transfer of addictions) They say things to me like.... "so and so doesnt know what they are talking about, I eat/drink that all the time and have no problem"
I wan my surgery to be as successful as possible, for me its not about seeing what I CAN get away with eating, but eating what I should. Getting the most out of my RNY tool.
(Judi I am not trying to imply you are doing any of this....I guess Ive hijacked the thread and turned it into a vent..LOL)
I have made a few mistakes, especially over Christmas, I had a few nibbles of different treats. but never had a treat without first having some protein and Veggies. Would have the little treat at the end. The old me would have skipped lunch and eaten an entire box of chocolates.
In the end...I don't know all that much about nutriton and bad carbs/ good carbs etc.... but if I was given a list of specific things NOT to eat.... then Im not going to eat them. Saying that I will admit I ate mashed potatoes at Thanksgiving and Christmas..LOL The no potatoes list came from a surgeon who didnt do my surgery....small amounts of mp is ON the list from my surgeon.
Sorry I'm babbling.
Bekah, thanks for the compliments on my photos..... I am just 5 lbs from ONEderland and 55 lbs from goal. 143 ls gone forever!!!
