1st REAL dumping episode...

So what I thought was dumping before - feeling icky, practically falling asleep mid-sentence, and a little upset tummy - is not dumping. I now affectionately call it my Carb Coma. I'm very sensitive to carbs now and anything over 15 gm puts me in a carb coma. But... last night I had my 1st REAL dumping episode. Severe chest pain, severe upper abd pain, nausea, sweats, difficulty breathing, tachycardia. It lasted about 20 minutes and then subsided to just feeling icky and hungover. I can tell you this was the worst experience I've ever had - I do not wi**** on my worst enemy!!! The problem - I don't know what I ate that caused it! I had about 1/2 cup of Chili at a restaurant then about 1.5 hr later I had Unjury Chicken Soup protein drink (first time for trying this but it only has 1 gm of sugar) and then I had my Citracal creamy bite - like I do every night. I don't know, but I sure don't want to go through that ever again!! My husband said it was even painful to watch... Today, I still feel kinda hungover as I didn't sleep well. I'm being VERY careful about what I put in my pouch today and hopefully I don't have to experience that again - yuk!!! Anyone with a similar experience? Any thoughts on why/what caused it? Bekah

I'm a bander so ...No real 1st hand experence but some in our group have severe dumping for different reasons. Lots of them say ..dairy does it to them. That's really all I know.

Thanks Jill. I sure want to figure out the trigger 'cause I NEVER want it to happen again! And just when I was starting to feel invincible... oh well, it was probably a good reminder for me that I'm not invincible and I still need to be careful. Bekah

Who knows huh - I guess it just depends on what mood the pouch is in today... The actual episode lasted about 20 minutes, but even tonight I still feel really achy in my belly - like I did 1000 sit-ups - weird. I was REALLY nice to my pouch today - went back to all my "safe" foods that I was eating at 3 mo out and it has been okay today. If I can sleep tonight, I'm sure I'll feel better tomorrow! Bekah

Sounds like what I went through with my gall bladder attacks. If they continue see your doctor. I was told 25-50% of WLS patients have to have gall bladders removed because the rapid weight loss creates stones. An ultrasound is used to diagnose. I thought I was dumping on my first two times. The third one lasted 2.5 hours before ER doc knocked me out. best of luck Pam

Don't have my gallbladder anymore so I'm pretty sure it was dumping. Whatever it was - it sucked! Bekah

I take my citrical creamy bites every night too. Only once did I dump on them. The only thing I noticed different that my pouch was empty--no water or foods for about 2 hours before that. fussy pouch...... Jen
