I Need some support
I need to come clean and be honest. The reason that i have been stalled for the last month or so is all my fault. I am eating things that are not the best for me. I do try in the morning to eat one of the snack size cottage cheeses the biggest issue that i have is that i drink chocolate milk all day. I do this to keep my blood sugar up all day because i am unable to take lunch breaks at my job. ( i work as a nurse). I do understand that by law we are alotted 1/2 break but mainly that law does not never seems to apply to the health care industry, but anyways, with the 3-4 tall glasses of chocolate milk comes the mongo calories plus the chocolate!
I want to do better with this and i am so ashamed that i have messed this up 6 months into this. I have lost 80 pounds since surgery but that was 2 months ago. I need to step up and do this right.
I have been so scared to come here and seek the support that i need. I need to be honest with myself and find the time to do my part such as exercising and eating right.
Thank you everyone for lending an ear
Jamie
OK Jamie,
Pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and start all over again.
How about switching those glasses of choco milk for a protein shake? Or skim milk with chocolate flavoring added? I was a Nestle Quickaholi****il surgery. Now I have 4 -6oz of milk with a tsp of Quick added.
My weight loss has been very slow the past 2 months. Not exercising as much as I should be.
Don't ever be ashamed to come and ask for help. That's what we do! No judgements,no flaming--just friends who have been/are there.
Hugs to you girl.

Hi Jamie. You just made a huge step forward !! You came clean. That's what OH is for. Sharing. You made the 1st step..You admitted your problem. Now..What can we do to fix it. For 1 thing..if you feel you have to have some choc. milk (not 3 or 4 maybe) Ha ! Anyway, try 8th Continent Light Soy Milk instead of other milk..for 1 thing ..I believe the light is only 50 calories instead of (110 for cows milk). Golly soak a thin sliced apple in lemon juice & water for a few minutes & seal in a plastic container to keep with you at work. Lots of times if you drink a full glass of water..you'll find you weren't really hungery..you were really thirsty. If ya don't like plain water..try putting Di Vinchi flavored syrups in your water ( make sure you use the sugar free ones .) I find them at Walmart right above the canned coffee. You'll love it !! I love the Vanilla or Caramel flavor is excellent also. One of the best things you can do is post when you're having a problem. There's always going to be someone you can talk to. Another thing. Cathy Wilson (an OH staff member) is also a Weight Loss Life Coach. I know she would love to hear from you. Her e-mail for Life Coach is : [email protected]. Keep me posted. We all care about each other.
Thank you guys for your kind words I have all sorts of protein shakes in my closet that i need to take out and use. I deffinaltey know that i am a cholocate milk-o-holic this is my addiction, I need to start doing better and coming back on here every day to hold myself accountable for my actions. I have to say it took me over a month to work up the courage to come back and admit my failure. I know that i can do this with with everyones support
Jamie
Jamie, If you like choc. also try EASE Choc. Protein drinks. Get it cold & it taste just likeChoc. Yoo Hoo's. (17 grams protein). I beleive if I remember right in training they told us your body can only process about 37 grams of protein at one time...if you take in more than that , it's just wasted. anybody can correct me if I'm wrong. Cathy told me to pass her willingness to help on to people..so don't hesitate to slip her a note..just tell her Jill sent ya.
hey jamie: i think we have all slowed down recently. you haven't gained. so while you were maybe not making great choices, your overall calories must've still been ok.
i think the protein drinks are a great idea. i've seen people talk about the hood low carb chocolate milk. has anyone seen the stats on that?
at quixotic we are going to start another challenge soon where you have to check in that you took your vitamins, drank your water and exercised at least 3 times a week. Last time we split up in teams to keep us accountable to not let the team down. No prizes though but if you think something like that might help, come on over and join in!
you can do this! i know your schedule is crazy hectic but you will find a way!
hugs, judi

Jamie,
I understand completely with the low blood sugar thing. My GP had me eating 9 times a day when I first started having issures. Its hard to find a balance.
A couple things I have found. GNC has a great shaker bottle that has a storage compartment in the bottom and refreezeable ice inserts.
Kashi go lean bars are nice too. they have 6 grams of protien and fiber and whole grain. I love the pumpkin flax.
Kraft has the prepackaged 1 oz cheese in the 2%.
protien bullets are nice too. I usually take a 42 gram shot and split it up into 3. That gives you about 14 grams of protien. which is enough to keep you level.
We all have stumbled. I know I have. Don't beat yourself up too much. Pick yourself up and dust yourself off and get moving again.
Best of luck
Pam
Jamie,
You are one step closer to getting back in control! Curious though - why chocolate milk? Is it the only thing available in the cafeteria or do you bring it from home, or is it in a vending machine, or are you so crazy about it that you'll go to any lengths to get it? Try looking at the reason you are consuming it and then work on how you can avoid that trigger.. And keeping your blood sugar up is NOT a good enough reason because we all know there are MANY other options that have better nutritional stats - sorry, a little tough love here
In addition to the other suggestions already given... how about protein bars? There are several out there that have good stats and you can carry it in your pocket without needing refrigeration. Go to a Vitamin Shoppe and read every bar! I have found the Power Crunch to be pretty tasty and have good stats too.
I know how nurses take their breaks - - - they don't! But you can snack on your bar while you are charting - which is something I know you do throughout your shift...
No more excuses girl - get ahold of yourself and start fresh! We're here for you - hopefully you glean even one little pearl from all the responses...
(((((hugs))))))
