ok sooooo
ok so are we NOT suppose to beable to drink when we eat or we jsut not suppose to try??
The reason Im asking is becaue I do it all the time...........
IS THIS BAD???
Is it ok if it feels ok??
My mom is about 10 years out from her RNY and she still CANT drink while she eats.........her body just wont let her.............
I think there are a couple of issues why we are not supposed to...
1. Fluids and food take up the same space, so you are taking away food space, and
2. Fluids can flush the food out, so you don't get as much nutrients absorbed, which is something we don't get enough of anyway.
It's hard because some foods just go well with fluids. I can think of tomato soup with a cold glass of milk. I just don't like one without the other!
everyone is is different but from what i hear, try not to!
another message board i read has some long termers and one lady who works with post ops. she said that whenever people come in and are regaining, the first question she asks them is "are you drinking while you eat" most are.
another lady said her surgeon showed her a video of a pouch where someone drank 20 minutes after eating and 45 minutes after eating. HUGE difference is the food being washed out.
so, what i am hearing is try really really hard to wait at least 30 minutes after eating.
i don't think a small sip now and then will sabotage you. and i know of some post ops who drink all the time. soooo, ymmv.
