First of all.....WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You look FABULOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Secondly, transfer addictions are VERY common and so far, I've been lucky and don't have one. I didn't drink or smoke before surgery, well, quit smoking 3 mos before. Have kids that spend my money for me, so don't have a shopping or gambling addiction. *S* And....I really work too much to have time to think about anything else. Oh yeah and I've heard of becoming a sex addict as well....don't have to worry about that one either. If you are having issues, do see a counselor. It's better to get things taken care of right when you realize it's happening. Definately nothing to be ashamed of, it is common. If there is someone with transfer issues, they should try to get with a counselor that is trained or knowlegeable in Weight Loss Surgery issues. You take care of you and remember....this is what the board is for. We are here to support each other and learn from each other. Don't be afraid to say what's going on. I really don't think anyone on here is going to judge. Pam

Hi Belinda, Luckily I have not transferred to anything else. But like Pam said we are here to support one another and if you need to talk don't hesitate to send a personal message or post and definately talk to someone professional as well. We love ya girl! Crystal

I don't think I have a transfer addiction, but hey you never know. I may be in denial just as I was about how fat I was. Jen

I am an online game addict. Most are free, but some are "gambling related". I allow myself $20.00 per pay to "play" my games.

Thanks Pam. I appreciate your honesty. Do you feel that you get a rush or an adrenaline boost from it? Is that the part we are addicted to? And is everything that we get a rush from considered an addiction? How do we differentiate between them?

I am not sure it is a rush that I get from it or if it is a time void from being in the kitchen. I don't cook like I used to. Its hard to tell

wow...........I guess if Im being honest I would have to say that I have MOST DEFINATLEY had and addiction transfer........... I was never a drinker pre-op and I would have never been caught drinking alone but ever since the surgery I have replaced my late night eating with late night binge drinking........ For awhile there I was doing it EVERY night to a point that I would vomit and pass out..........but then my husband caught on and tried to put a stop to it and I told him I would only drink on the weekends.......... well...........it has been a struggle to cut back and I have noticed that I have been hiding my drinking from friends and family........... I never drink in the day...........only at night while my boys and husband are sleeping.........I just like how relaxed it makes me feel while I watch late night t.v. and drift off to sleep......... I will keep everyone updated on my progress to cut back.........

Honey you are in my prayers! It sounds like you are on the way to alcoholism. My mom was an alcoholic and she would hide it from the family at first. Within a few years it was full blown. She became violent and our life became so disfunctional. You have to do it for yourself, to stop completely. You probably should also seek counseling. I say this not to be mean but to say that you have got to stop this spiral before you are trapped. I will be thinking of you. Elisa
