Cursed, or blessed?

Hey everyone. I sure do miss ya'll on here, but my new job and the small amount of time leftover for the basics like keeping the house somewhat clean, regular chores, taking care of pets, etc. I don't have time for much else these days So anyway, here is what is worrying me these days. So far, I seem to not dump at all. I haven't gone so far as to eat a candy bar or fried chicken, but I went out to a mexican restaurant during new employee orientation with the group (paid for by the company so hey, free lunch!) The restaurant gives everyone a sopapilla after the meal, free. I decided to try a little one, maybe 2 inches square. In case you don't know what a sopapilla is, it's kind of like a donut. Deep fried bread, sprinkled with sugar. Two strikes against me. I ate it in small bites and it went down fine, with no dumping. This worries me. So far, the only time I get sick is when I eat too fast or take too large of bites....but nothing makes me dump so far. Am I cursed...or blessed? I can't decide, but right now it makes me sad Donna

I haven't pushed the limits either but I seem to be able to handle sugar OK. I have limited myself to max 13g of sugar. It's the fat that is making me uh,poo. Not sure if we are cursed or blessed about this, but I am sure I am blessed to have all of you to go through this with. Hugs to you donna Jen

you may be neither. don't freak! could be the tiny amount saved you. from what i have read if you do the same thing in a month, you could be ill. you are doing so well but you may still have an intolerance for things. hang in there. glad things are going well! judi

Hey girl! We've missed you! ***HUGS*** Hey I haven't dumped either. Only a few things have disagreed with me such as certain types of fish, chicken strips (deep fried) and that's about it. I didn't dump, i just had a tummy ache or forced myself to throw it up because i didn't like the feeling of greese running down the back of my throat! I've tried ice cream (in very small doses) and some other sweets and unfortunately there have been no consequences for being dumb about my choices. the few times i've thrown up has been because I forced myself because i was feeling crappy but not sick like dumping. My sister is 3 years out and she still dumps. My dad does too and he's 6 years out. The only thing that gave me a major reaction is that one night my sister in law made dessert at my house and i think i had sugar shock. i didn't dump but i got dizzy as hell and got all clammy. my hubby had to fan me with a book so i could fall asleep. I couldn't see straight. It was from fried tortillas dipped in cinnamon, brown sugar and sugar and drizzled with melted hershey bar. I'm not sure if it's a curse or a blessing either. I thought I woudl react to more things which would prevent me from wanting or daring to eat them. It's kind of disappointing! I love you honey!

I have gone out of my way not to eat anything with more than 5 g of sugar or 5 g of fat....I have a feeling I wouldnt dump and quite frankly I do NOT want to KNOW that I dont. That would be a slippery slope right back to fatville!!! Although I have thrown up a couple times, each time from too big bites or not chewing properly. Usually when my meal is disturbed or I am distracted.....I have to concentrate these days. I did have a small spponful of my husbands pumpkin pie blizzard the other day.....hardly tasted it and it made me feel a little sick in my tummy, not enough to really notice but I felt it. So I didnt have a second bite. I read somewhere that if you are going to dump on sugar, it happens right away but dumping on fat happens hours later, maybe even the next day? Becky

Hi Donna, I believe you are blessed. I can't even tolerate a dang Banana. At least you have the option to take it or leave it. Also, I was told by my nut that if you layer your stomach with protein first you can tolerate small amounts of sugar. of course this hasn't worked for me. I can't even eat fresh fruit.. let alone somthing sweet. I see the pumkin pies are all out and that makes me sad, that was my absoulte favorite thing to eat that is sweet. It is a great reality check knowing I can't even have a bite. Oh- well small price for me to pay to be healthy. Sending some love from OHIO! HUGS, Valarie

I know I tried some of the frosting on the top of a donut and a small piece of cookie and had no ill effects. That was awhile ago and I'm just choosing to believe that just because it didn't happen then, it would more than likely happen the next time. So....I'm not going to chance it. I'm going to say I dump. Now, I haven't tried the deep fried stuff aside from a cheesecurd. And that sat like a rock, so that's not happening again. Just remember, you don't know it won't happen the next time you try it, so don't try it. *S* We are so not able to eat large amounts anymore and that is our incentive to only fit in the good stuff when we can eat. Take care! Pam
