Hello Everyone, I had Lap RNY surgery on 6-11-07 (19 weeks ago today). I was wheeled into surgery at 340 pounds, with Type II Diabetes, Sleep Apnea, High Blood Pressure, Plantar Fascitis, Arthritis and taking 9 pills a day and two shots to stay alive. I barely functioned, I couldn't tie my shoes and I chose to sit out of most activities. I almost died 12 days after surgery (major GI bleed). I spent almost a week in ICU, then two months barely being able to function. I stuck with it though, and slowly I started to come around. Today I am 238, I am off of ALL my medications, I do not have sleep apnea and my BP is 110/70 with a pulse of 56. I run five days a week. Last Friday I ran 6.30 miles. I am a new person, with a new lease on life. I have moved from the sidelines and am now back in the game - participating in as much as I can. I have 68 lbs to go - and I intend to get there. Thanks to everyone who posts here in the June group. I haven't posted a lot, but I've read everything you have had to say and you need to know that you have inspired me. Thank you!! Kyla

Kyla - You tell a wonderful story of the power of this life changing surgery. It's so inspiriing that even with all you went through (before and after surgery) that you understood the power and pushed through to a new world full of the life you wanted for yourself! Congratulations on your wisdom and all the gratefulness you demonstrate! Run a mile for me, OK? I hate to run!

Wonderful, inspiring post Kyla. I can't believe you are running--OMG. I'm still not hooked on exercise. I walk and do some light weights but will never be able to run without a knee replacement. These old knees are just beatup. Please keep posting and add a new pic of the new you! Jen
