Trouble with Bread?

Is anyone having trouble with bread? I dont eat it often. When I want a sandwich I usually do a tortilla with turkey or whatever, but I am finding that even toast gets stuck. I get jealous when I see people on here eating a subway sub on wheat! That sounds sooo delicious right now! Just curious what others have come up with to replace the bread. Thanks!

Beth, I haven't come up with anything. I can't even do a tortilla. Once in a blue moon I can eat a 1/2 piece of toast. I feel your pain.

I don't eat much bread. 1/2 grilled cheese sandwhich maybe, and very rarely. No tortillas either. No rice, no pasta. Crackers seem to do better, but only a couple. The only thing I've found that is sorta bread like is soy crisps.

I know what you mean. I miss not having peanut butter toast, grilled cheese and jersey tomato sandwiches. weird thing is, sometimes i can do stuff and other times i can't. I can do rice, but not pasta. I can do a few crackers sometimes but not bread. every now and then i can do toast but i have to cut off the crust. it's frustrating but then i remember that i can fit into clothes i haven't worn in years, i can sit in seats at the movies without being wedged in, i fit in chairs and booths at the restaurants (even though i rarely order - i pick at everyone else's plate) and i have less back and knee pain. i've talked with lots of folks that have hit their 1 year anniversary and they say that as time goes by, you will be able to enjoy a lot of the things you can't eat right now, you'll just eat less of it, so that's something to look forward to. for now remember that eating is for your pleasure. you get little nutrional value from the foods you eat so make sure you take your supplements, drink lots of water and be patient. take care and God bless

Hi Beth, I have trouble with regular bread....but if i eat a harder bread like the subway mini wheat and have it toasted it seems i can do it.....or if i have a grilled cheese and they use like a sour dough bread and toast it.....but just plain ole' bread nope can't do it.then i usually don't eat all of it a few bites and i can feel myself getting filled up so i pick the insides out to get the nutritional part of the sandwich.... oh and rice bothers me......pasta is a hit or miss when it is a hit it is VERY VERY LITTLE AMOUNT

I was told NO BREAD in my post Op diet, and I havent even had a single bite of bread since surgery. I havent needed to replace bread either because I find the things that I normally would eat bread with such as eggs, by the time I get that in there is no room for the bread. I belong to victoriabariatricsurgery.com they also eay no bread, at least until goal weight. Becky

I haven't tried bread - even toasted - or rice or pasta.I can eat flat bread crackers (with LC cheese usually). What with trying to get in protein and saving carbs for vegetables and fruit, these foods are a low priority. I'm sure the day will come when I want them, just not now.

Bread+Ruth=bad bread. White, Wheat, Whateva, it makes me ralph. I feel it crawl up and out it goes. I can do a wheat tortilla (small) or a wheat pita pocket but actual bread, no. It makes me feel sad on the inside. I just want a nice piece of toast with some Nutella Spread on there, but I know it's not gonna happen. ohh well. What can ya do?

i don't have too many problems with WELL TOASTED nearly burnt bread! I eat crackers with no problem. I even bought some of that mini-sized bread that they usually have out during the holidays for platters... do you know what i mean... they usually have it in the deli area... but i didn't like the taste of it... i'm really a picky eater and that makes things tough. are any of you able to eat salad. I just started eating it in the last couple of weeks and I have really enjoyed it! i've been doing a green salad with grilled chicken. i've been using those salad spritzers. they're not bad. i can finally eat fish with no problems.
