A Few Wow Moments
Hi Everyone!
I am a frequent reader and rarely post...but it's time for me to share with you some recent WOW moments:
1. I now weigh only 33 pounds more than my husband. And he's actually lost 40 lbs
on his own while I've been losing my weight. He started at 250 and so really, I'm
lighter now than his highest ever was. At one point in our lives, I was probably
nearly 130 pounds heavier than him. I would say that altho I had the surgery,
we are both healthier than we've ever been!
2. I weigh 243.2 pounds, down 81+ from January, down 63 from surgery on June
6th. Just completed week 19 post op.
3. I am now 7 lbs below my driver's license weight, which was a valid weight when I
was about 19 years old. I used to dream about weighing the 250lbs that it
claimed I weighed! Woo hoo! Gotta get a new license! Ha ha!
4. I have three business trips left to take this year - and I won't have to ask for an
extender...ever again! The last time I flew was 3 years ago.
5. I am wearing today a long-sleeve sweater that:
a. I wore on my first date with my hubby about 11 years ago (and actually, it's a
bit baggy so that's why I'm wearing it NOW before I have to give it away!)
b. Is LONG sleeves - I can wear it only because my body temp has reset so
radically from the surgery that I can now wear long sleeves and not roast. I
used to get hot when a room was 69 degrees (like clockwork). Now, I don't get
warm until it hits 76-78 degrees. And even at 80, I am not all that
uncomfortable. Weird! I'm even thinking of buying some pajamas! Ha ha!
6. I can see veins in my legs now!
7. I have knees...and I kinda like them!
8. I can cross my legs and sit comfortably.
9. I am only 44 lbs above my 8th grade weight!
10. I am obese (not morbidly obese any longer).
11. I have no more diabetes (used to take 2 kinds of insulin and 4 pills!!!)
12. My blood pressure is normal (I'm getting dizzy on the one remaining pill)
13. No more sleep apnea! My husband used to be able to tell when I would fall
asleep because he could hear me! No more! He says I'm now a "stealth"
sleeper! And because I breathe better, I don't wake up with headaches AND I
usually wake up earlier than my alarm because I'm rested! He says on a scale
of 1 to 10, with 10 being the loudest snoring, I've gone from a 10 to a 2 in
"loudness."
14. GERD - (heartburn) I've cut my Pepcid from twice a day to just the morning. No
incidents of night time reflux!
15. I can flick my wedding rings off of my hand now. Oopes! Gotta get those made
a big smaller soon!
16. I just bought my next bra size down: started at 52DD and now 42D.
17. Have to move the car seat forward closer to the steering wheel now. Used to be
unable to pass even one finger between my belly and the steering wheel. Now, I
have moved the seat forward at least 6".
18. I was asked if I was pregnant yesterday! I figured this was actually a
COMPLIMENT (!) because I translated it as meaning that my entire body
looks "normal" except for the remaining belly. And a belly must mean you're
pregnant, right?! Whereas a big belly on my body that was big all over isn't
really noticed as possibly a pregnant belly. Gonna need some plastic surgery
when I'm all done!
FUTURE GOALS:
1. Enter "One"-derland!
2. Go to themeparks and not have to sit and rest every 5 minutes
3. Buy a pair of jeans
Blessings,
~ Lisa ~

Amazing!
The 'drivers license' weight cracked me up! I think that could be the goal for all of us to reach that! It's been at least 100 pounds off for some time for me!
And I can appreciate the comparison to the husband's weight. I can hardly wait (weight??) for the day!
Good for you for having a day when it all seems wonderful and worth it! You have provided a wonderful reality check for all of us.
